you my but turn in your Bible
Isaiah chapter 53 Isaiah chapter number 53 and I may read all
12 verses of this and a man just been a Meditate
and ponder on this all week. The Bible says, Who hath believed
thy report, and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? For
he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root
out of dry ground. He hath no form nor comeliness,
and when we shall see him, There is no beauty that we should desire
him his despise and rejected of men, a man of sorrows and
acquainted with grief. And we hid as if it were our
faces from him. He was despised, and we esteemed
him not. Surely he had borne our griefs
and carried our sorrows. Yet we did esteem him stricken,
smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities.
A chastisement of our peace was upon him. And with his stripes
we're healed. All we like sheep have gone astray. We have turned everyone to his
own way. And the Lord have laid on him
the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and he was afflicted,
yet he opened not his mouth. He is brought as a lamb to the
slaughter, and as a sheep before his shearers. is done, so he
opened up not his mouth. He was taken from prison and
from judgment. And who shall declare his generation? For he was cut off out of the
land of the living for the transgression of my people was he stricken
and he made his grave with a wicked and with a rich in his death
because he had no he had done no violence neither was in deceit
in his mouth yet he pleased the Lord to bruise him and he had
put him to grief which or when thou shalt make his soul, an
offering for sin. He shall see his seed, and he
shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper
in his hand. He shall see the travail of his
soul and shall be satisfied. By his knowledge shall my righteous
servant justify many, for he shall bear their iniquities.
Therefore will I divide him, a portion of the great, and he
shall divide the small with the strong, because he hath poured
out his soul unto death, and he was numbered with the transgressors,
and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the
transgressors. Amen, brother Randy, will you
pray for us? Dear God, you'd help us tonight,
I pray. Lord, you'd give us unction,
power, and liberty to preach what you put on our hearts tonight,
I pray. Dear God, you'd touch tonight,
Lord. God, you'd give strength. God,
you'd preach empire and demonstration of the Holy Ghost of God tonight,
I pray. Lord, touch. Oh, God. Help Lord. Yes. Oh God. Yes. Oh God. Yes. Oh Lord help tonight. all go up all all go a month Here in this passage
of scripture, we see there's two things. There's actually
two verses that have been on my heart. There's one word in
these two verses. Now, skip down to verse number
four. said, surely upon our griefs
and carried our sorrows, yet we did not exteem him, stricken
smitten of God and afflicted, but he was wounded for our transgressions,
and he was bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement of our peace
was upon him, and with his stripes we are healed now. Back up here
to verse number three, it said, He is despised and rejected of
men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid as if
it were our faces from Him. He was despised and we esteemed
Him not. Now, in the verses three and
four there, amen, verse one with all words. It's been on my mind
ever since Sunday evening. That one word is sorrow. Hey man, you know, tonight we
can get a picture. mental picture of Christ as He
was hanging there, as He was despised, as He was rejected,
amen? We see Him struggling all the
way from Gethsemane to the cross. All the way from Gethsemane to
the top of the hill. Amen? Because He bore our sorrows. I want to preach on this thought
for just a little while. Getting back to the basics. Amen? We need the basics. Amen? Paul said over in Galatians,
chapter number 6. Amen? If I can get over here. Yeah, man. Paul said this. He said in verse number 14, But God forbid that I should
walk, saving the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the
world is crucified unto me and I unto the world. Amen, we know
that Paul said, hey, I got nothing to glory about other than the
cross. Amen. We know tonight that the
only thing we got to glory about is the hope, amen, that we've
got. Which is, amen, in Christ. Now, we know that there is many
different Old Testament accounts of the crucifixion of Christ. And I don't know how many there are, but I do know
this. Over in the book of Exodus, he
talks about the lamb. And man, he said to take that
lamb, now watch this, he said, and eat it with unleavened bread
and bitter herbs. Now, I got to thinking just a
few minutes ago about this. That bitter herb she was talking
about was this. The sorrow. Amen? Because you know it was bitter.
And amen, he becomes sorrowful. Amen? For us, in the Garden of
Gethsemane, the Bible says his heart was heavy. Amen? Glory to God, on the cross it
was heavy. because he said, Father, forgive
them for they know not what they do. I'm telling you, friend,
God's been so good to us. What are you going to do tonight
with this man that is called to Christ? Even the woman at the well said,
come, see a man. which told me all things, ever
I did. Is this not the Christ? Amen,
I'm telling you, thank God. And then them men in the city,
they said, well, thank God, we ain't gonna believe you. Amen,
we've heard Him for ourselves. Amen, glory to God, one day,
thank God, I heard Him for myself. Amen, all because His sorrow
on the cross at Calvary was for me. That's all His sorrow was
about. For me and you. So be it. Amen. The way could be made. That we could have eternal life. Amen. Paul says here in Galatians 6
and 14, I'm going to read it again. But God forbid that I
should glory save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ by whom
the world is crucified unto me and I unto the world. You may now listen. For in Christ
Jesus neither circumcision availeth anything, neither uncircumcision,
but a new creature. You know why I said that? Because
we trust in what Christ done on the cross. We trust that because
He sorrowed for us, we can thank God we have a way. It ain't just a way. It's the
way. Amen. The way was made. Now, what are you talking about,
preacher? I'm saying this. He sorrowed,
amen, so that we could have a way. Amen. They said, He said, I thirst. They just made a mockery of Him.
Amen. But thank God He drank the cup
in the Garden of Gethsemane. Hey, He drank all the sorrow
from in you. He became that sorrow. So that we can be free. Amen. And you say, what are you saying? The Gospel, that's the death,
the burial and the resurrection of Christ. Amen. That's all that we know how to
preach. Amen. That's all that we should
preach. Paul said, I don't come to you
with enticing words of man's wisdom. But amen, except Christ
and Him crucified. I got to thinking, it's time
we get back to the basics. Amen? You hear all this? preaching,
amen, which is well and good for the Christian. But amen,
our main focus should be for the lost so that they could see
themselves as a sinner, amen, and trust in the work that Christ
done on the cross. But they will not know it unless
we tell them. By the Holy Spirit of God, we've
got a duty to do. Amen. It's to tell them. And
when God put this thought on my mind, I thought, Lord God,
you're going to help somebody. Amen. I began to think this Word
of God, it helps you. We may think that it, amen, that
it's a little bit rough. Amen. But over in Psalms 22 is
another account of the crucifixion of Christ. But now I ain't going
to read all that. I'm going to just tell you. I'm
going to just paraphrase this. He said that he was unrecognizable. Amen. He said his bowels become
his wax. Amen. There was things in that
scripture, amen, that we hadn't of known unless David hadn't
of penned this down. Amen. We know that what Christ
was, He said there in the first verse of Psalm 22, He said, My
God, My God, why has the Alpha taken me? You know why He said
that? Because it's Father. turned his
back. He couldn't look upon the sin
that Christ has made. He was made to perpetuation for
our sin. He had to endure affliction.
He had to endure sorrow so that we could be free. Amen? There's a lot of people
who say, well, preacher, that's elementary. Hey, God made this
Bible, amen, as simple as He could. Amen, because He knew
that us, being feebly minded as we are, couldn't comprehend
nothing complex. Amen. You know why He said that
over Isaiah 53? He wanted you to know. Amen. So you will know. That's all we ever do. But we
can know the love of Christ. Amen. You say, Perkins, what
are you talking about? He had to endure sorrow. He had to be acquainted with
grief so that we can know the love of Christ. Amen. No greater man or a man,
no. Go to God with me. Get over here.
Amen. And read it. Amen. John chapter
number 15. Amen. Amen. Greater of hath no man than this,
that a man lay down his life for his friend. You say, Perch, what are you
talking about? God loved us so much that he
called me and you friend. Amen. Those that rejected him,
he still called friend. Amen. Cause he wanted us to know his
love. Amen. Now, you say, well, Bridger,
I didn't come to hear this. Amen. I don't know what you may
need tonight. You don't know what you need
either. God knows. You may just need to be encouraged.
It would do us a lot of good to go back and look in the Word of God at the times
Christ suffered. You know why? Because our old
pride gets in the way. Amen? A lot of times it gets
in the way and says, oh, you don't need God. You can make it yourself. Hey,
pride goes before the structure. A holy spirit before a fall. It humbles us when we go back
here and look at the sufferings that Christ, the sin that he
become so that we could live. Amen? I think about the times
I'm like, my goodness, why'd you die for an old wretched sinner
like me? Because he knew I was foul. But amen, let me say this, even
in his sorrow, Amen. That dying thief on the
right side, he looked over. I believe it's on the right side.
Because, amen, what the Bible says, he put the sheep on the
right and the whip. And, amen, the goats on the left. Amen. And that thief looked over
at him. He said, Lord, remember me when
thou comest into my kingdom. Oh, before he said that, he said
this. He said, for we indeed justly
for our deeds, but this man had done nothing amiss. Even in his sorrow, he, amen,
was so beautiful to look upon. Amen. An old sinner could be saved. You say, Perch, what are you
talking about? We've got to see us as we have
seen in our life. We've got to get to the point
to where we're so low that we look on His sorrow We look on
His grief as a way to escape from this old world. It's a way
to escape bondage. Amen. You might write this in your
Bible over here in Isaiah 53. Amen. Between verses 3 and 4.
Amen. His sorrow gave us freedom. Amen. You say, Kirk, what are
you talking about? We were in bondage. The blood. Amen. If it wasn't placed on
the door, we couldn't be saved. Amen. You know, back over there
in Exodus chapter number 14 he said, or I believe it was 12. He said, take that lamb, kill
it. Amen. He said, eat it all. Amen. Even his antlers. Amen. You say, what are you talking
about? If you want Christ, you've got to see Him for who He is. All of Him matters. I don't care how graphic, how
violent this may look to you in the Word of God, but we've
got to see Him for who He is. He was a lamb. But he didn't open his mouth
because he knew what his plan was. What God the Father set
forth. Amen. He wanted another way out
of his flesh. Oh, he knew that he'd have to
drink the cup of sorrow and become As a man of sorrow, told that I could be born again. Told that I could live. That's the only way. There was
no other way for us to come. But by the way of the cross. Amen. You think about that for
a minute. What's our focus? What's our
goal? Amen. I know I'm not preaching
nothing new. Because, hey, Coy Jastic said
there's nothing new under the sun. Amen. You probably heard this a million
times, amen, down through the years. But, amen, we need a fresh
look at Calvary, amen. I remember I preached the title
of that some time back. It's probably been two or three
years now, amen. Brother Josh Hick, if you listen
to this preacher, I just want you to know I enjoyed preaching
that message up down there in Bama for them folks. Amen. Because it showed us. And we need to stop and think
on that. We need to look. What did Moses
do? Amen. Glory to God. There's a
scripture floating in my mind. You better hang on. Amen. Moses said, God told him, he
said, hey, take a brazen serpent and put it on a pole one time. Amen. And those that look on
it shall live, and those that don't will die. Amen. Christ said, or God the Father
said the same thing. Amen. For his son. He said in the New Testament,
God said, Lord Jesus said this. Amen. Oh, glory. He said, if I be lifted up from
the earth, I will draw all men unto me. You say, Preacher, what's he
talking about? The cross. Amen. His main focus was the cross. Amen. So, you see that throughout
the scripture. That he had one goal. He set
his face as a flint rock toward Jerusalem. He said, I'm going
because I've got a duty to do. I'm going because I've got people
to thank. I'm going just to tell the world
I love them. Amen. I know I preached this
back a few weeks ago here, but I can't get it off my mind over
in John 17. He said, I pray for them that
are far off. Amen. He prayed for us even before
we knew that he prayed for us. I'm telling you, friend, there's
a lot of times when we think that we're alone. We're never
alone with Christ, amen. Oh, my. I'm telling you, the
Lord is good. You would stand to your feet
just a minute. It's the mind of the Lord. Always a great place to go back
to, amen. Go back to Calvary. Sad, amen,
and Christ had to do what he did, amen, but he did it because
he loved us. Amen. He was beat and abused. And we
don't even, we don't even, we don't even realize what all he
went through for us. But you know, the Bible says
that God commended his love toward us and that while we were yet
sinners, Christ died for us. You know, I was yet to be born
again, amen, when Christ died on that cross, amen. But he commended his love toward
me anyway, amen. That's that unconditional love,
amen. God loves you. Amen. He loves everybody. The Bible said, for God so loved
the world. For God so loved the world. We know He loves us, His
children, but God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten
Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but
have everlasting life. I'm glad it's everlasting tonight,
amen. Amen. Praise God, it ain't partial
life, it's everlasting life. Amen. I'm glad we're saved of
the uttermost tonight, amen. Maybe you just want to come down
here tonight and just thank God for saving your soul. We don't
always have to come to God and ask him for something, amen.
We can kneel down before our holy and almighty God and just
give him praise and give him thanks, amen, for saving our
soul. Give him thanks, amen, for putting clothes on her back,
shoes on her feet, amen, a roof over her head, food in her cupboard,
amen. I mean, we could be one of these
folks, amen, tonight, praise God, washed down the river. We
could be one of these folks, amen, up here tonight, amen,
but ain't got nothing. God's blessed us, we got everything
in the Lord Jesus Christ. No matter what happens tonight,
amen, we're winners anyway, amen. Thank the Lord now. Let's go
to the Lord in prayer. Dear God, I want to thank you. Get back to the basics. Oh, God. If you're brought out there fresh,
look at Calvary. God, I pray tonight, dear God,
help us never to let it get done. Oh, thank you. It's not an old
story. It's new every day. God help
us, Lord Jesus, never to forget, amen, what you did for us on
the cross at Calvary. Help us, dear God, tonight, to
be thankful, Lord Jesus, and give you thanks every day. God,
I pray tonight, dear God, that you just help us, Lord God, to
just realize how thankful we ought to be and how grateful
we ought to be, thank God, for what you did on the cross at
Calvary. Lord, you just beat and you spat upon, dear God,
you bare bread was plucked out. Dear God, you had a crown of
thorns put on your head. Lord, you pierced the side with
a spear. Big spikes drove them through
your hands and through your feet. But yet when that thief on the
right side of the cross said, remember me when thou comest
into thy kingdom. She said, thou shalt be with
me in paradise today. And all that grief, agony, and
sorrow, Jesus still loved him. Still love me. As Christopher
mentioned, dear God, Christ prayed for those that are far off. Lord
God, we ought to be happy, dear God. He's talking to us. He's praying for us. What a God. But Lord God, I'm
sorry. Lord God, help us, dear God,
from day to day to love you more. help us, dear God, to share the
good news of a glorious gospel. Thankful, dear God, that you
took our place. Shed your blood. I'm glad to
thank God the blood's still there. Amen. God, I pray, dear God,
tonight people would receive you all over this world. They
get in, dear God. Save them, dear God. Be at these
prayer requests that have been made a few minutes ago. God,
touch each and every one. Move upon each and every need.
God, I pray tonight, Lord Jesus, you touch and be with these folks
out here, dear God, closest to hell. God, please touch them,
dear God. Open their eyes up to see the
goodness of the Lord. He said, the goodness of the
Lord leadeth thee to repentance. God, we repent, dear God, and
we see how good you are. God, you're good. You're good. Anything good we've got, it's
come from you. Lord God, we wanna praise you tonight, and thank
you, dear God, for your goodness, your graces, mercy, your love. God, we wanna give you thanks
tonight. We even had an opportunity to be able to get here and worship
you together. God help us, Lord, to give you thanks. Let's sacrifice
a praise out of our lips. Thank you for the message you
sent. Remind us, dear God, that sweet blessedness, that sacrifice
that you give for us. God, we love you tonight. We
appreciate you. Be with us, Lord Jesus, as we go out. Keep us
safe. Help us to help other people. Be with those tonight, dear God,
in dire need. Touch them, comfort them, help
them. Lord God, give them direction tonight as they try to repair
and fix and help people, Lord Jesus, that they'd work good
together. Dear God, we praise you and we
thank you, dear God, for your provision. We ask these things
in Jesus' name, amen. Amen. I was there.
