This past week, I sent out an open letter to Elon Musk, and it's a presentation of the gospel with the hopes that he will see it, that he will read it, and that it will do some good. And this is the open letter to Elon Musk that we wrote and publicized this week.
I have long since been an admirer of your tireless contribution to the world of technological and scientific advancements. As a Tesla owner, I have come to respect the way your vision and determination have brought practical innovation to everyday people like myself. You have enjoyed the remarkable position of achieving multiple spectacular successes, whether it be Tesla, SpaceX, Starlink, X, used to be called Twitter, Grok, and now Grokopedia. I don't get the impression that money is the principal driving force behind these ventures, but rather the pursuit of truth itself. I find that deeply admirable.
This letter is simply written out of a desire to echo the words of Jesus to a young truth-seeking scribe many years ago. Quote, thou art not far from the kingdom, close quote, Mark 1234. Truth is the most important reality. We all must eventually face the cold, hard, immovable reality of truth though for many it comes too late. And as vital as truth is, there seems to be an unrelenting effort to suppress it, whether it be scientifically, medically, socially, or even religiously. Why do you think that is?
The Bible teaches us that there is a power at work in the world seeking to suppress truth. the devil himself, whom Christ declared to be the father of lies, John 8 44, and the purveyor of worldwide deception, Revelation 12 9. Jesus Christ, in contrast, is the very embodiment of truth, as he claims in John 14.6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me. This truth claim is so extraordinary that it is either A, true, or B, complete and total lie. There can be no middle ground in such a truth claim.
But how can such a claim be authenticated amidst the noise of so many voices, opinions, and competing truth claims? The answer is the resurrection of Jesus Christ It is the single most historically corroborated, indisputable, authenticating event that validates everything Jesus ever said. And just as in the world of digital encryption, once we have secure authentication, we can trust the rest. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the key. After that, all of his words, all of his claims, and everything taught in scripture falls perfectly into place and can be trusted. Either he is 100% true or he is 100% false. There is no in between.
So Elon, as one who greatly admires your accomplishments and pursuit of truth, my sincere prayer is that you will not only be close to the kingdom, but you will all together place your faith and trust in the one who is the way, the truth, and the life itself. Thank you for your time. That is the end of the open letter to Elon Musk, and let's read from Jonah chapter three briefly.
And the word of the Lord came unto Jonah the second time, saying, Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee. So Jonah arose and went unto Nineveh according to the word of the Lord. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days' journey. And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown. So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth from the greatest of them even to the least of them, because, it says, for word came unto the king of Nineveh. And he arose from his throne. He laid his robe from him, covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
This word reached the king's ears. It pierced his heart. He had conviction. And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything, Let them not feed nor drink water but let man and beast be covered with sackcloth and cry mightily unto God. Yea, let them turn everyone from his evil way and from the violence that is in their hands. Who can tell if God will turn and repent and turn away from his fierce anger that we perish not?
Extraordinary. and God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way, and God repented of the evil that he had said that he would do unto them, and he did it not." This nation, the city nation, was spared a generation because of what happened here. Through the humble efforts of Jonah and his message, very simple message, reaching the ears of the king, and through his influence, reaching the ears of the entire city nation, and the Lord repented of the evil that he had said he would do unto them, and he did it not."
We're praying for revival, friends, and the Lord is obviously sovereign. He can choose to do whatever he wishes to do, but in this particular case in Jonah, I find it interesting and encouraging that the Lord used the simple, humble, even very reluctant preaching of Jonah and to reach the right people, almost like how we read about how that soldier, that unnamed soldier, drew his arrow at a venture. It was just sort of this, he just drew one arrow at a venture, meaning that he wasn't aiming in any particular direction, and that arrow, guided by the Lord's hand, landed right between the armor of the king, and the king died that day.
And I believe the Lord can take even the humblest, the simplest acts of faith as we offer up our prayers to the Lord, and he can do incalculable things with that if we had the faith to believe it. So I trust that this will be a little bit of a help to us and a blessing and let's seek the Lord here together. Amen.
