The Imminent Kingdom - John the Baptist

The Old Testament promise of God's work of judgment and renewal by which He would establish His kingdom through His Servant was accompanied by the promise of a forerunner. This individual would come in the power and spirit of Elijah to prepare the sons of Israel for the entrance of Yahweh's Servant - the One whose coming represented the theophany of Yahweh Himself. In the fullness of the times John the Baptist was revealed to be this prophesied forerunner. This sermon considers John's role as the Isaianic forerunner and promised "Elijah," specifically the way in which his ministry served to prepare Israel for their Messiah and the inauguration of His kingdom.
