The Satan destroyed his children, his cows, and his sheep, and his doggies, his family, and his ingredients. The truth of the end of the world is that God helped Job. The end is that God helped Holy Man write the Old Testament. All right, I hope you guys saw a little bit about some writers of the Old Testament, maybe some writers you didn't know about. Second grade chapel reminds us what was a key idea, what was a big idea that we learned this morning. Can someone help me with that? Shiloh? So yes, we did learn about who wrote the Old Testament. By the way, secondary, who did write the Old Testament? God did. God exists in three persons. What person, they didn't say this, but what person of God helped with the writing of the New Testament? The Holy Spirit. And so God wrote it. But we also saw a very good truth as we saw the video that Mrs. Landry's class did. Not only was God writing it, who else was involved there? Yes, Zeke? Holy men of old. So, really one of the key verses for today could have been from, is it 1 Peter? Holy men of old did what? They wrote as they were moved or carried along by the Holy Spirit. So, wonderful truth there, and I'm very thankful for that. This is really one of the central truths that we build upon when we do missions work, isn't it? This is Missions Infants this week, and what do we do? We go out and we share the Bible, what the Bible says about Jesus. So if we don't believe the Bible, what do we have to say? Nothing. We don't have anything worth saying. We don't have anything reliable. But if we are saying God's Word, then there's something with power. There is something that is true. So we are going to go ahead and briefly spend some time together. It's not even 9.30 yet, and normally our elementary chapel goes to 9.30, so we'll have a few minutes here. We started early, so we'll carry on. And so we are having missions emphasis week. And you see, just a reminder, we've been talking about C. C, the fields widened to harvest. yesterday we saw how big is the field? How many people are out there? Does anyone remember? We just had a quiz show. You can pay attention. Did you care till the next day? How many people are out there? What's the field look like? Seven what? Seven people? Well there's more than seven just in the front row. Shiloh? All right, so we talked about billions of people, and over three billion are in what we call unreached areas. So that's good. How many people total are there in the world, both reached and unreached? Anyone do the higher amount there? I said it, and then the numbers were on the screen for the addition. Oh, who said it? Okay, so we have about 8 billion, with a B, b-b-billion people here on Earth. And we have people who believe all kinds of wrong things. We look, does anyone remember some of the wrong things that people believe? What was the name of one of them? Hinduism. The idea that everything is a god. Pantheism with Hinduism. Reincarnation. All that's connected with Hinduism. Another one. Islam. The Muslims have the Islam religion. They go around saying there's no god. By Allah, Muhammad is his prophet. Another false religion. Shiloh. Buddhism. That's one that's common here in Korea, isn't it? All right. Two more. Yes? Did you say Jonah? Well, Jonah's not a false religion, but Jonah did disobey. Jonah was actually a prophet of God. All right. What was another one? One that's growing, especially among people who have perhaps heard the gospel. Yes? Okay, so Catholic is a misunderstanding of the scripture that adds to the Bible. We didn't talk about that. You're right, that is an error. And so the fields are going to harvest. There are billions and billions of people all around the world who have never heard the good news that Jesus Christ came to save sinners. Other people have heard the news, but they have not believed. And that is sad. And because there is such a big Great need. We need to be praying that God would send people to share the Bible the way our second graders have reminded us. We need to be praying, and we need to not only be praying, but if we're going to obey God, part of what we will do is we will actually go into the fields that are white unto harvest. So, I'm going to ask, let's see, Who did the pledges this morning? Rachel, come on up and read Psalm 2 for us this morning. I'm going to ask you to do the reading without the response of reading. There was a Bible up here. I think it might have been a Korean one, but we'll read it in English. Psalm 2. Got it? You don't have a Bible. Fortunately, you have several Bibles. Psalm 2, we'll go ahead and look at that at this time. As she reads, she's going to read the entire thing. Be looking at the screen, be thinking through what Rachel is reading. Go ahead. Why do the nations rage at the people's plot in anything? The kings of the earth set themselves and the rulers they counseled together against the Lord and against his emergency. Let us break their bonds in pieces and cast away their swords from us. He who sits in the heavens shall laugh, the world shall hope him in their vision. Then he shall speak to them in his rest and distress them in his deep displeasure. Yet I ascend my king on my holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree the world has set to me. You are my son. Today I give up to you. Escort me and all into the nations for your inheritance. and the angel appears for your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron. You shall dash them to pieces like a fire spread the wind. Now, therefore, be wise, O Kings, be instructive, you judges of fear. Serve the world with fear and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the sun, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way. When his wrath is handled for a little, blessed are all those who put their trust in him. Thank you, Richard. Let's pray. Lord our God, your word is right. We can trust it. And your word reveals that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Your word reveals that each and every one of us are sinners. The wages of sin is death. We, without Jesus, will go to hell. But Lord, you love us. You care for us. You give us an opportunity to bow the knee to Jesus Christ, so that we won't be crushed. So that we won't be judged. So that we can go to heaven. Lord, this is the good news. Jesus Christ came to save sinners, of whom I am chief. This is the gospel. Lord, as we talk about sharing the gospel with others, I pray that you would use your word to open our eyes to the fields that are white to harvest. to the need around the world for lost and dying men and women, boys and girls, to put their trust in Jesus Christ to be saved. Lord, don't let us be blind. Don't let us be hard-hearted. Don't let us be silent. Father, God, Holy Spirit, we beseech you, make us witnesses for Jesus Christ. Teach us to proclaim our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, the Savior of mankind. Help us, Lord. And Lord, we will give you the praise, the honor, and the glory. In Jesus' name, amen. What do we see in Psalm 2? Verses 1 through 3, we see people raging, angry, rebelling. Fighting against God, they say in verse two, the kings of the earth, the ones who are powerful, the ones with the army say, let us break God's bonds asunder. The world is in rebellion against God. That is a world you and I live in. But God has spoken. We have heard this morning that God has given us His Word. And in His Word, we hear how Jonah goes and tells to Nineveh that God will judge. Jonah had to be forced to tell. We heard about how he was swallowed by that big fish. We saw how he was swallowed. And so even though God sees this rebellion, we see that in verse 4, he who sits in heaven does not cry or anguish. We see he laughs. It's like that little two-year-old. Have any of you ever seen a little baby have a temper tantrum? And that little baby kind of... And that little baby tries to hit her mommy and tries to fight against her daddy. And what do you do? You say, oh, that's so cute. Because that little baby can do nothing to her mom. That little baby can do nothing to her daddy. God laughs. And actually it says the Lord holds him in delusion. This rebellion is stupid and pathetic. Because God is a maker. He is all powerful. So God's not worried. And look at verses 7 through 9. God says, you have said we will break the bonds asunder. I say, I will give everything to Jesus. Every person will bow to me. Every tongue will declare Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. So, yes. Squawk. Fight. Do your best. You're losers. And if you keep on fighting, it doesn't happen. But, I give you a chance. Mercy is offered, because I do love you, even though you're a stinker. You're my problem child, right? I love you even though you're bad. You know, when my sons, you know, they're not bad often, but when they're bad, I still love them. And God, even when we're bad, still loves us. And He gives us a chance to make things right, to trust in Him, to believe in Him. Verses 10-12 says, Be wise. Stop being stupid. Stop fighting God. Be wise, O Kings. Verse 11. Stop fighting and start serving. Serve the Lord with fear. Rejoice with trembling. Why? Because you fear the Lord your God. You respect Him. You realize He's powerful. He judges sin and sinners. We see His judgment on sin on the cross. That is how terrible sin is. That Jesus had to die to pay for our sins. So come to God. Trust in Him. Believe in Him. And verse 12 says, kiss the Son. Offer your homage. Show you are loyal. Now Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus with a kiss, didn't he? We want a kiss of loyalty, not a kiss of betrayal. Kiss the son lest he be angry, and you perish in the way. So his wrath is kindled. God is angry against the wicked every day. But he offers forgiveness. He offers mercy. He offers us a chance to believe on Jesus and be delivered and then to give deliverance to others as we share the good news that Jesus Christ came to save sinners. So what we've seen in Psalm 2 is that the good shepherd Remember yesterday in Matthew 9, we saw that Jesus looked on the sheep who were like a shepherd. Like a shepherdless sheep. The sheep had no shepherd. He looked on them and what did he feel? Anger? Derision? No, he felt compassion. He loved them. And so he said, pray to the Lord at the harvest. So he goes to Samaria. You've got your Bibles. Quickly, quickly now, turn in your Bibles to an account in Luke chapter 9. Luke chapter 9. We're dropping down to verse 51. Luke 9, we'll read verses 51 through 56. So in the New Testament, our song didn't get to the New Testament this morning, we heard the Old Testament. The New Testament goes Matthew, Mark, Luke, third book in the New Testament. Luke chapter 9, verses 51 through 56. Is everyone there? Alright, now it came to pass when the time had come for him, for Jesus, to be received up. So he was going to die, be buried, and ascend. When the time had come for him to be received up, that he, Jesus, steadfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem. What was going to happen in Jerusalem, people? What happens in Jerusalem? Why is Jesus going to Jerusalem? He's going to die. Alright? So Jesus is going towards Jerusalem. He's going to die. Verse 52. Jesus sent messengers before His face. He said, I'm coming your way. Get ready. As they went, these messengers, they entered a village of the Samaritans to prepare for Him. So, you know, get things ready. Have a house ready, have a place for a meeting. Get ready. Here I come. Ready or not. Not hide and seek, but here I come. Verse 53. They, but they did not. Why? Because his face was set for the journey to Jerusalem. When his disciples, James and John, saw this, they said, do you want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them as Elijah did? The king sent groups of 50 soldiers to capture Elijah. And they would say, Prophet of God, the king says it's time for you to be arrested. And Elijah said, OK, if I'm a prophet of God, fire, burn. And it consumed 50 soldiers once, twice, 100 men dead. And the soldier and the apostles here are saying, hey, you burned the boys. These guys were fighting against you. They rebelled and they burned. Do it again. And Jesus said, whoa, hold on, baby. What does he say? Verse 55, Jesus turned to him and said, you don't know what manner of spirit you are on. Now notice verse 56, this is key. For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village. All right, so here's some Samaritan sheep. What happens? Jesus is going to die. On the way to Jerusalem, going from north, up there in Galilee, to Jerusalem, sandwiched in between are the Samaritans. And he says, I want to go straight down. And the Samaritans say, no, you're not welcome here. And his friends, his apostles, his followers say, these guys have got to burn. They're going to go to hell. We might as well send them there fast, right? And Jesus says, whoa, stop there. No, I love these people. I did not come to condemn them. I came to offer them life. The Son of Man came to save, not to destroy, not to condemn. And so we see here, the Samaritans here have rejected him. They refused him. They refused to let him come in. But Jesus refused to damn them yet. They would have other chances. One day they will die. They have died. Hopefully some of them will leave on Jesus before they die. Second, counting. We've looked at Psalm 2, we've seen people reject Christ. And Jesus is tried before Pilate. And the people are there. And they have a vote to make. We have elections in a few weeks in America. And the choice that Pilate gives the people is not Pamela Harris or Trump. The choice was Barabbas or Jesus. Which one lives? And these people chose Barabbas. A killer, a traitor, a thief. And so Jesus goes to Jerusalem to die for the sheep. Remember, Jesus comes to his own. He comes as a Jew to Jews. He came to his own. And his own, the Bible says, John 1, received him not. And so, as Jesus is on the cross, before the cross, that people are crying, what? What do they say? Jesus is at trial, and they say what? Crucify Him! Crucify Him! Crucify Him! And Pilate says, whoa, buddy. This man hasn't done anything wrong. What if I condemn? And then it's a man. And they say, kill him anyway. His blood be on us. We'll take responsibility. We and our children. And so Jesus goes to the cross. He allows himself to be nailed, crowned with thorns around his head, his back beaten. No man was marred like he was you could barely recognize him as a human being And he is up there on that cross in pain in Agony taking God's punishment for sin And what does he say No, I'll punish no, what does he say he says father what? Here is Jesus rejected by himself Rejected there in Jerusalem put to death by Jews and Gentiles pilots giving the final order and Laying down his life for his sheep. That's a good show by sheep who were basically hanging the nails to the soldiers Rejoicing crucify So the Jews in Jerusalem reject Jesus they cried crucify him they cried his death beyond us and on our children they received their request and But even bleeding there on the cross, Jesus Christ, gasping for breath, cries out, Father, forgive me. So what does that mean for us? You see, Jesus did that, that Friday so long ago. He died in my spirit. The wages of sin is death. Jesus died. God's anger and wrath at sin all fell on Jesus Christ. Remember in Psalm 2 we said at the end of Psalm 2 that the destruction of the rebellious is sure. And it's like God the Father destroyed, put to death God the Son, so that you and I could be forgiven. All God's righteous requirement for sin's punishment was paid by Jesus Christ. God sent His Son to die for you and me. Until Jesus died. He was buried. Let that sink in. God loves you eternally. God loves you sacrificially. God loves you to such an awesome degree that he would and did die for you. Even when you didn't like him. Even when you were fighting against him, he loved you. And the son died for you. And on the third day, God said, it's enough. And he raised his son. You have believed on me. You've trusted my son, who died, was buried, and rose again. Now tell others. Because just like I don't want you to go to hell, I don't want anyone to go to hell. The Bible says God is not willing that ANY should perish. So you and I have a job to do. These are the fields that are widened to harvest, my friends. These are the fields that will require the gospel, the good news of salvation, to go to the ends of the earth. And that's something we should pray about. So we're going to have a time, I'm going to pray, and then the elementary is going to go upstairs and pray. And elementary will resume their Tuesday schedule till we pass the 930 point. And then a secondary, we finished a little bit earlier than we did yesterday, but we both still have, let's say, again, we'll have a longer break, a 10-minute break. Once the elementary school's out, we'll have a few minutes to use the restroom, get sitiated, and then we're going, according to this clock, it's about 9.40, so 9.50, we'll come back down here. So let's have a word break. Our Father in heaven, we rejoice that you are God, that you are great, that you have given us your word as the second Gregor's reminded us. Thank you for your word. Thank you for sending your son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for our sins. Lord, help us to be ready to praise your name. to come before your throne. Lord, send forth laborers. Send them to dark Africa. Send them to darker Europe. To the nights of North America and the dim recesses of South America. Send forth laborers here in Asia and in Oceania, Australia, New Zealand. and all these other places. Lord, there are billions and billions of people dying only to help you. Forgive us that we don't hear. Forgive us that we are silent when men and women, boys and girls, are perishing. Give us eyes to see the fields widen to harvest. we will give you the praise for anything you do in answer to our prayers in fulfillment of the great commission upon us. Pray these things in Jesus' name for Thanksgiving. Amen. Last thought.
