A Humble Witness to Christ

In the Prologue or the Word Before, in the initial verses of this book, I showed you that even though Christ was the same Word that became flesh, that He was not recognized by His own people. But there an abundance of grace and truth that is seen in the Lord Jesus. John was not the Light but he confessed that Jesus was the Light. John the Baptist and Jesus are contrasted. John is characterized by what he is not. Not the Prophet, not the Light. But a voice crying in the wilderness. He confessed that he was not the Christ. He is nothing but a voice bringing his confession and testimony concerning Christ. This is what the minister and all Christians are supposed to be.
