First Kings chapter number 10. Go ahead and begin reading in verse number 1. And the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the Lord. She came to prove him with hard questions. She came to Jerusalem with a very great train with camels that bear spices, very much gold and precious stones. And when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart. Solomon told her all the questions. There was not anything hidden from the king which he told her not. And when the queen of Sheba had seen all Solomon's wisdom in the house that he had built, and the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel, his cupbearers, and his assent by which he went up unto the house of the Lord, there was no more spirit in her. She said to the king, it was a true report that I heard in mine own land of thy acts and of thy wisdom. Howbeit, I believed not the words until I came, mine eyes had seen it. Behold, half was not told me. Thy wisdom and prosperity exceedeth the fame which I heard. Happier thy men, happier these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and that hear thy wisdom. Blessed be the Lord thy God, which delighted in thee to set thee on the throne of Israel because of the Lord loved Israel forever. Therefore made he the king to do judgment and justice. She gave the king 120 talents of gold and of spices, very great store, precious stones. And there came no more such abundance of spices as these, which the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon. The Navy also of Hiram, That brought gold from Ophir, brought in from Ophir great plenty of almag trees, precious stones. The king made of the almag trees pillars of the house of the Lord, and for the king's house harps also, and psalteries for singers. There came no such almag trees nor seen unto this day. And King Solomon gave unto the Queen of Sheba all her desire whatsoever she asked, beside that which Solomon gave her of his royal bounty. So she turned and went to her own country, she and her servants." Brother Eddie, could you pray for the message this morning? Amen. You can have a seat now. What we just read is the story of the account of the Queen of Sheba. The Queen of Sheba is on a journey. That's not a word I like to use very often. I think sometimes it gets used a little too much these days. Jessica hears me complain about this all the time. You know, the journey of weight loss. It's not It's not a journey. What Queen Sheba did, she's on a journey. She has left her home, which is in the south. When you read about her in the New Testament, they call her the Queen of the South. And it's possibly modern-day Yemen. Some people say this is where she's from. And she travels nearly 1,500 miles to find out if some rumors that she heard were true. Now that's a journey, 1,500 miles. She packs up all this stuff and she's going to see if what she hears is true. She's heard some rumors of this new king, this new Jewish king, Solomon. And Solomon has recently finished the building of the temple. He's finished the building of his house. And she wants us to find out if these stories that she hears are true. The fame, right? We hear that in verse number 1 we read that she heard the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the Lord. He finishes this temple. And, by all accounts, if you count up the gold that was used in that temple, just the gold, we're talking in the early 2000s, somewhere around $500 billion worth of gold. And today, with Bidenflation, I mean, it's probably in the trillions. So what we see here is the fame of this. The rumors are spreading throughout the world. They're reaching far outside of Israel. And the Queen of Sheba, she has doubts of what she's heard. And she packs up quite the caravan to find out if these things are true. She's going to have her servants. She's going to bring these camels. spices and treasures that she's going to take with her on her trip north up to Jerusalem. And she comes to Solomon with questions of doubt, but she's met with unexpected answers that change her mind forever. Now, when I think about what kind of things could she have heard about to make her want to take this trip, right, have you ever heard anything you know, just the magnitude of something or the beauty of something that you just said, you know what? I've got to go. I've got to make this trip. I've got to make it out there. One of the things we want to do as a family is go out to Yellowstone National Park, right? We hear all this great beauty and this wonder and just God's creation, all this amazing stuff. That's the kind of thing that makes us want to pack stuff up and go check it out, all right? So when I think about Queen Sheba, I wonder what kind of things she heard to make her want to walk or ride a camel for 1,500 miles to find out, is this really true? She had to hear some amazing things. If I'm going to guess, I'd say maybe she heard about the peace that's now in Israel. Here's a people that have been, from their history, since they've left Egypt, have just been nothing but under pressure, in wars. I mean, it's just been bloody battles after bloody battles. And now all of a sudden this King Solomon comes and they're at peace. I think that kind of peace might entice someone to make a journey to go out there and see what's going on. Maybe she heard of the immeasurable wealth of King Solomon. When God appeared to Solomon in a dream back there in 1 Kings chapter 3, He gave him an opportunity to ask what I shall give thee. And Solomon, you know the story, he asked for an understanding heart to judge thy people. And God's so impressed with that, he said, OK, I'll give you that. Plus, I'm going to give you riches and honor so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days. I mean, he's not only is he given wisdom, but he's given all this wealth and this honor above any king that was ever part of his time. Perhaps it was the beauty of the temple that Solomon had built that Queen Sheba heard about. Whatever it was the Queen of Sheba, whatever she heard, it moved her so much that she was willing to seek out the truth of the matter. I think she was searching for something. I think she was searching for the same thing that people search for today. In 2016, Forbes Magazine published an article, the top eight things people desperately desire but can't seem to attain. And the number one thing on that list, above money, above freedom, above peace, balance, fulfillment, confidence, was this thing that I believe the Queen of Sheba was looking for, happiness. Isn't that what everybody wants? Everyone just wants to live a happy life. The problem is people seek out happiness in the wrong places, in the wrong ways today. People want to be happy and they're willing to go to great lengths to try to obtain it. It's something that people desperately desire but can't seem to attain because they're looking for it, like as I just said, in the wrong places. People are unhappy, so they try to find happiness in their environments, right? Where they live. I'm not happy, I'm going to pick up and I'm going to move all the way across the country. People do that all the time. I'm going to go down here, I'm going to go over here. People try to find happiness in their jobs. They want to be happy in the place of work. That's a miserable existence, to hate your job. You're at work more than you are at home. People want to find something that they're happy doing. People try to find happiness in friendships. They try to find it in different relationships and possessions. And when they can't find it in the things that they should find it in, they seek it out in other things like drugs or alcohol. There's all kinds of different things. But they're not going to find it there. They won't find true happiness in any of those things. And what we're going to find out today is in this passage that true happiness is only found in the Lord Jesus Christ. So we're not reading about him, we're reading about Solomon. We've been talking about types for months and months now, and Wednesday we talked about how Solomon He's a great type of the Lord Jesus Christ, and we're going to see that illustrated here in this passage. We can see many of his character traits of Jesus Christ in Solomon. And I believe the Queen of Sheba was on the hunt for happiness, and she found it when she got to Solomon. So this morning we're going to preach on the thought, the hunt for happiness. The first thing I want you to notice is the question of happiness. In verse number one it says, The Queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the Lord. She came to prove him with hard questions. She came to Jerusalem with a very great train and camels that bear spices, very much gold and precious stones. And when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart. Solomon told all her questions. There was not anything hid from the king which he told her not. I think the question of happiness is where can I find happiness, right? That's what the Queen of Sheba is looking for. Where can happiness be found? And the Queen of Sheba heard about the, we read it again, verse number 1, she heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the Lord. Alright, so she has an idea. There's something going on up there up north. There's something happening up there in Jerusalem. Here's these people that have been just in bondage, who have been under pressure, who've been attacked, who've fought and all these things and now they've got this peace, they have this happiness. I gotta go find out what this is all about. I gotta go up there to see if I can find some happiness. And this is an answer to Solomon's prayer. Look over at 1 Kings chapter 8. When Solomon is dedicating the temple, he has this prayer. And he has a prayer of not only for his people, but for strangers, for people that are outside of Israel, people who aren't a part of the nation of Israel. Verse number 41, he says, Moreover concerning a stranger, that is not of thy people Israel, but cometh out of a far country for thy name's sake." That's what Queen Sheba heard of was the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the Lord. For they shall hear of thy great name, and of thy strong hand, and of thy stretched out arm, when he shall come and pray toward this house. hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calleth to thee for, that all the people of earth may know thy name, to fear thee as do thy people of Israel, and that they may know that this house which I have built it is called by thy name." See, Solomon wasn't just building this great giant temple to say, look, this is Solomon's tower, right? You got Trump Tower out there in Chicago, it's a beautiful building, right? But people build all kinds of things to put their name on it, to put their stamp, to leave a legacy. There's buildings named after people all over the place, but what Solomon did with this temple was not to bring attention to himself, but he said, when people in these far countries hear that, Lord, I pray when they come, when they are trying to seek it out, that they're gonna see how great you are. It said that they shall hear how great thy name, thy strong hand, and thy stretched out arm. That's what it was supposed to be, a testimony. He said, Lord, when they call out to you because of this, hear them. Show yourself to them. And that's what's happening here. Solomon's prayer was that people would hear how great the Lord was and be drawn to the temple for answers. We find that the Queen of Sheba makes this journey because she heard something. She heard something. Something was different. Something was out of place. Something was out of the ordinary up there in Jerusalem. People ought to be drawn to church because of what they hear about it, right? There ought to be some things said that people go, what's going on over there? That's just something out of the ordinary. There's something strange. I'm hearing about the Lord's name there, about His strong arm, about His stretched out arm. And look over at Romans chapter 10. The lost world ought to be hearing some stuff about church. Romans chapter 10, you know how easy salvation is? Verse 13, for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Very simple. But people gotta hear about it to be able to do that. Look at verse 14. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? How shall they believe in him whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? See, there's something that takes place. What should be happening is the lost world should be hearing about the Lord Jesus Christ. They should be hearing about what He's done for us. We ought to have an outward testimony of what God's done for us. It should draw people to this place. In verse 17, so then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. People ought to be hearing about some stuff. You know what the Bible says over in Luke chapter 6? Out of the abundance of the heart. His mouth speaketh." So, when you're around people, what are they hearing you talking about? There ought to be a testimony. There ought to be some witnessing. I'm not saying you need to be just preaching to people all the time. You need to get saved. You're a sinner. They should hear about, man, church was good this week. We got some good people there. The Lord showed up. There ought to be something that they hear that catches them. Hold on, that's different. That's not like any church I ever heard about. It should entice them to take a journey, right? Like it did for Queen Sheba. Look back here, let's go back to 1 Kings chapter 10. Talking about the question of happiness. Where can I find it? And we see when she comes to Solomon, she says there at the end of verse 1, she came to prove him with hard questions. So she's heard these rumors. She's heard about Solomon, his wisdom, heard about his many acts of just grace and mercy. They've heard about the Lord, how the Lord showed up there for them and has given them peace. And she goes to them with hard questions. Like, where did you find that happiness? How can I know for sure where I'm going to Why doesn't, does baptism save me? Do I have to join the church? Do I have to tithe? Can I lose my salvation? Right, there's some hard questions that people have when it comes to church. And what we need to do is be ready to give an answer. Solomon was ready. In 1 Peter chapter 3, the Bible says, So we ought to be ready to give some answers. Now, you're not going to have the answer to every question. but he ought to have some answers to some questions. How do we get that? By studying the Bible, by reading our Bible, by praying, by listening to preaching, by coming to Sunday school. All those things will help you understand. You might not have it memorized, but you would be amazed how many times someone comes to you with a question and you go, wait, I think I know where that is. And you'll just go, man, it just so happened that Sunday school we were talking about that. Look, I can show you, we're right here, and there's the answer. How many times have you been witnessing to someone and the Lord just give you a verse? Give you the answer. I didn't even know I knew that. The Holy Spirit will do that for you. But you have to be prepared to give an answer. You ought to be expecting questions. If you're not getting questions, what are they hearing from you? It started with what Queen Sheba heard and then she wants to ask some questions. Look over at verse 2. She came to Jerusalem with a very great train, with camels that bear spices and very much gold and precious stones. And when she was coming to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart. So, she comes with this great train, right? I mean, when she showed up, I mean, she had an entourage with her. She had her servants. They had camels that were loaded up with spices. They had gold. It says, very much gold. Precious stones. All this stuff. You know what? It almost appeared that she had everything a person could need or want. But she was missing something. Something was still missing. She didn't have that happiness inside of her. She didn't have that joy that Solomon had. You know what he had? She has all this stuff. She has camels and gold and spices and diamonds and stones, all these different things. Solomon had the God that created all those things. She was missing something. She thought she had it all. You know what she did? She brought the fruit of her labor, just like Cain did. I thought this is what happiness was. I thought I had to do all these things. I thought I had to accumulate all this stuff. I had to accumulate all this wealth. How come I got all these riches, I've got all this stuff, and I'm still not happy? I still don't have what other people have. I've got more than what the guy down the street has, but man, he doesn't have a pot to go to the bathroom in or a window to throw it out of, but man, he's got joy, he's got happiness. Where do I find that? It's not in stuff. It's not in the fruit of your labor. It's not in the fruit of the ground. Cain's sacrifice was rejected by God. He said, no, that's not what you need. You need to find the Lamb. You've got to come to the Lord as a sinner and find happiness there at the cross of Calvary. Look at verse number two there at the end. It says that she communed with Him of all that was in her heart. She came to Solomon and told him everything that was in her heart, because she needed some answers. And you know, we have a God that will give you answers. You know all you've got to do to Him? Pour out your heart. Psalm 62, verse 8, it says, "...trust in Him at all times. Ye people, pour out your heart before Him. God is a refuge for us." Selah. God, He wants to hear from you. He desires that. And I'll tell you this about God. God will give you the answers that you're searching for. All right, well, I want to know what that noise above the mulberry trees is. Well, good luck with that. You know, I want to know what, you know, some of this, Queen Neshiba, she's not looking for, how do I know for sure, you know, how do I know that that the gap is real or there wasn't a gap or how do i know you know she she was looking for happiness She was looking for some peace. She was looking for joy. And she found it when she found Solomon. She told Solomon all that was in her heart. And Solomon had answers for all her questions, according to verse 3. Solomon told her all her questions. There was not anything hid from the king which he told her not. You know, God has all the answers to all your questions. You know why? Because He is the answer to all your questions. He's given us a book. You've got a question, you can start digging and trying to find it out. You'll never 100% understand everything that's in this book, but that's okay. He doesn't expect that. But you want to know why certain things happen. Lord, why am I going through this? Why do the righteous suffer? Well, read about Job. Maybe you'll find out. Maybe he's trying to draw you closer to him. Maybe there's something that he needs to address in your life. Maybe it's to reach other people. He'll show you some answers. Maybe you'll never get it down here. One day you'll get the answer, the judgment seat of Christ. When you have the mind of Christ, you'll have an understanding like he does, but he has the answer to all your questions. So we've talked about the question of happiness. Now I want you to see in verses four through seven, we'll see the recognition of happiness. In verse four, it says, when the Queen of Sheba had seen all Solomon's wisdom and the house that he had built and the meat of his table and the sitting of his servants, the attendance of his ministers and their apparel, and his cupbearers, and his assent by which he went up into the house of the Lord, there was no more spirit in her. And she said to the king, it was a true report that I heard in mine own land of thy acts and of thy wisdom. Howbeit, I believed not these words until I came and mine eyes had seen it." So when things that she saw match the things that she heard, she has a change of heart. You see, she came because she heard about something. And when she comes there, she starts to see some things. What did she say? She said, I've seen all of Solomon's wisdom. She witnessed it herself. She heard of it, now she's seen it. And the house that he had built, and for the meat of his table. We're talking about when people come into church, they hear about things, but when they come in, they're seeing the same things that they're hearing about. There's not a hypocritical spirit about it. They're not hearing one thing and seeing another. She sees the meat of the table. That's the preaching of the Word of God. They come into church and they're going to see that. The sitting of a servant. Seeing people come into church. I go to church. How come I was there and you weren't there? The sitting of his servants and their apparel. Oh boy. I'm not going too crazy there. But we ought to look different than the world looks. We ought not come in here looking like we're going to the club. We're coming in here going to church. And the attendance of his ministers and their apparel, his cupbearers and his assent. They're seeing all these things. People are watching you. They're listening to you and they're watching you. Look at 1 Peter 2. I know this is a verse I go to fairly often, but it bears repeating. We need to make sure that what we do or what people hear from us matches what people see in us. Does that make sense? What you need to do is make sure what people hear from you matches what they see in you. 1 Peter 2 verse 11. Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul." Don't do those things that everyone else does. Don't always fall victim to your flesh. Fight against it. Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles. Conversation. People think of what you say, but we're going to see that that conversation is more about what they are seeing, not what they're hearing. Whereas they speak evil against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation." See, they're watching. And when you're doing right, they notice that. They shall behold that. Because you don't act like the world acts. You're different than the other guys at work. You're different than the other ladies at work. There's something different about you. When you stub your toe, you're not cursing God and making it obscene. You're going, praise the Lord. You're able to get through tough situations because you've got some peace, you've got some happiness. They take notice of that. But they want to watch and make sure that your works are matching your words. Because when they don't, that's when they go, see, he's just a hypocrite just like everybody else. People, they don't come to church. Why? Hypocrites in the church. Look at Job 36. People say well, there's hypocrites of Walmart. There's hypocrites at the ballgame. There's hypocrites at the restaurants, but you still go there Well, let's not give them an excuse Yes, that's true, but let's not let them use that as an excuse Job 36 Verse 24 Remember that thou magnify his work which men behold you see that You magnify God's work which men behold. Every man may see it. Man may behold it afar off. So it might not even be those closest to you. It might be people that are afar off, watching from a distance. They're still seeing if your works magnify God or if they magnify your flesh or the world or the devil or any of those other things. They behold it. They see it. And when your talk doesn't match your walk, they go, they're a phony. what they have isn't real. It's when Queen of Sheba sees, when she sees Solomon and sees all of his servants and sees all that stuff, it matched what she heard. Notice what it says down there. It says, oh, verse number five, it says, there was no more spirit in her. All right, well, what's that mean? There was no more spirit of doubt in her. She came not believing. She said unto the king, It was true report that I heard in mine own land of thine action and of thy wisdom, howbeit I believed not in the words, until I came and mine eyes had seen it." They saw that it was real. Your testimony is one of the most important aspects of your life because people see it. They recognize it. They take note of it. Notice there when she says, now that I've seen it, she says, and behold, the half was not told me. My wisdom and prosperity exceeded the fame which I heard. That's the realization of happiness. She had heard some amazing things, so much so that she was willing to leave everything behind and make this 1,500 mile trip north to find out if it was true or not. And when she finds out that not only what she heard was true, but the half hadn't been told to her, right? It was, yes, it was amazing, but it's more amazing than words could explain. The half hadn't been told. You know, when you came to Jesus Christ, you were looking for a savior, weren't you? Someone told you you were a sinner. lost on your way to hell without the Lord Jesus Christ, but that He had died on the cross and shed His blood for you, was buried and rose again the third day for you so you could have a sacrifice to pay for your sins eternally. And you came to Him as a sinner on your knees in tears saying, Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner. And you know what you got at that time? The Savior you were looking for. But you know what? Haven't you noticed, haven't you realized since that moment that you've gotten so much more than just the Savior? Man, the half hasn't been told. He told us, yeah, I'd save you from hell. And since then, you've gained the best friend you've ever had. You've gained someone that'll listen to every word that you have to say to him. When you need help, Lord, help me. It wasn't just, Lord, save me. Now he'll help you. Now he'll talk with you. He'll commune with you. He'll be there for you. He's been everything. He's been more. Everything that he's done, it's done more than what you thought he would do. He's done more for you. Yeah, He saved your soul, but not only that, He saved it for all eternity. Not just that, He's put you in a church where you can have some friends, some people of like mind, some people that you are closer to, and some of your own family. He's given you more than you ever thought. The half hasn't been told. It hasn't. You found that to be true, that yeah, He's your Savior, but it's not the half of it. He's done more for you. He's given you more. You thought you were getting out of hell, but you didn't even realize what you were getting in heaven. A mansion, streets of gold, I mean, words can't explain it. And that's what the Queen of Sheba was trying to tell them. Look, I heard about this, and I didn't believe it, but now that I've heard it, and I've seen it, and I believe it, the half hasn't been told. There's no way to express how great this is, and how wonderful you are, Lord. It's been more. He's done more. He's given you more than you ever imagined. He's given you a peace that passeth all understanding. He's given you a purpose in life. You thought you were just getting out of hell. He gave you more. The half hasn't been told. That's the realization of happiness. When you realize what you got in Jesus Christ, Man, it's overwhelming. Words cannot explain it. And that's my job is to get up here and try to explain it. And I just fail and mumble and bumble all over myself. But it's hard to just express how great he's been. Every step of the way, anytime that you've fallen down, he's been there to pick you up. Every time that you've messed up and sinned and turned your back on him, he was right there waiting for you when you came to your right mind. He's always been there and always will be. It's just it's unexplainable unexplainable Verse number eight we'll see the participation of happiness Happy are thy men Happy are these thy servants? Happiness is found in serving You want to be happy? Not just in salvation, but you want to be you want to experience happiness You want to understand pure joy? it's in serving the Lord Jesus Christ. There's no greater fulfillment in life than serving the Lord. There are some things in life that are fulfilling, that you feel rewarded for, just worldly things. Yesterday, the kids had baseball. They hadn't been playing that long, but All three of them did excellent yesterday. Eli caught his baseball game, did a great job, came in and pitched and did a fantastic job pitching. He got the game ball yesterday. They didn't win, but that boy was up there throwing strikes. 71% of his pitches were strikes yesterday, which is unheard of in Little League, all right? I mean, he did a great job. Grace hits a home run in her game, all right? Silas is catching balls and hitting balls. I mean, this is his first time ever playing. I get some fulfillment out of that, because I put some time, put some effort, and tried to teach him some things. And out there, we're putting a lot of effort in what we're doing. That's rewarding to me. But serving the Lord Jesus Christ, there's nothing like it. Doing what He's called me to do, I get no greater fulfillment than to preach His Word and just to try to feed you guys with something, try to give you something, try to be a blessing. It's not about getting a blessing all the time. People want to get, get, get, give me, give me, like the prodigal, give me. There's no greater fulfillment of joy or happiness than when you can give yourself and serve the Lord Jesus Christ. Happy are thy men happy are these thy servants which stand continually before thee happiness is standing Standing for what's right standing for that King James Bible standing for the Lord Jesus Christ Standing for his people Israel. There's there's happiness in doing what's right? Standing taking a stand and that hear thy wisdom Happiness is in hearing Blessed be the Lord thy God which delighted in thee to set thee on the throne of Israel because the Lord loved Israel forever. Therefore made he the king to do judgment and justice. Told you Solomon's the type of the Lord Jesus Christ. Happiness is when Jesus is on the throne. When he's king of your life. When he's got the full reign. When he's in charge. Not when you put him on the back burner. You know what happens when we take him off the throne? We put him back on the cross. Crucify Him. Crucify Him. So I can please my flesh. So I can have my way. There's happiness in having Him on the throne and you're crucified. I'm crucified with Christ. Nevertheless, I live. Yet not I, but Christ liveth in me. Blessed is the Lord thy God, which is the lighter than thee. What? To put Him on the throne. Verse number 10, And she gave the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold. In Spice's very great store, precious stones, there came no more such abundance of spices as these, which the Queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon." Happiness is found when you give it all to Jesus. When you give them your money, sure. your time, yep. You, yes. When you give it all to Him, that's where happiness is found. You know why there's so many miserable Christians these days that got to go to therapy, that are on so many antidepressants, because they won't give the Lord everything. They won't give it all to him. She came there with an abundance of stuff. Camels, spices, gold, precious stones. She said, Solomon, you can have it all. You've shown me happiness. You've answered my questions. You can have it all. If you would just surrender your life to the Lord Jesus Christ, you would know what happiness is. That's where it is. And you know what? It's amazing what the Lord can do with what you give Him. Look at verse 11. The navy also of Hiram that brought gold from Ophir, brought in from Ophir great plenty of almig trees and precious stones. So I don't have a bunch of money that I can give the Lord. I don't have a whole lot. Well, give them what you can. From this navy of Hiram, they brought gold, but then they brought all these trees. Well, what am I going to do with all these trees? The Lord will find something to do with it. Verse 12, the king made of the almond trees pillars for the house of the Lord. You know what some of you are? Some of you are pillars of this church, holding this thing up. All I do is come and show up. Yeah, your faithfulness keeps this thing going. It's a blessing. The king made of the almond trees pillars for the house of the Lord, and for the king's house harps, also, and salt trees for singers. There came no such almond trees, nor were seen unto this day." It's amazing what the Lord will do with what you give Him. If you'll give Him whatever you have, He'll do something with it. If you'll just give it. People are too, they don't want to give anything up. They want all the blessings without any of the sacrifice. And happiness in Christianity doesn't work that way. He gave it all so we could get salvation. Now, because we're saved, we ought to give it all to glorify Him. And you know what happens when you do that? The reception of happiness. You get it. You receive happiness. Look at verse 13. King Solomon gave unto the queen of Sheba all her desire. whatsoever she asked, beside that which Solomon gave her of his royal bounty." So you see that Solomon gave the queen all of her desire above and beyond his royal bounty. So you know what you get when you get saved? You get the royal bounty. You're an heir to the throne. You're joint heirs with Christ. You're a child of the king. But when you can give it all like she does in verse 10, you get it all. I'm not saying you put $100 in to get $1,000 in the offering plate. I'm not talking about that. But when you give it all to the Lord Jesus Christ, He'll dump on everything that you desire, because your desires will be what He wants. They'll be in line with His thoughts and His desires and His will. You know, people have a funky way of thinking of the Lord. Okay, you know, if I put this in, then He's going to double. You know, I put 100 in, I get 200 back. So they put it in and go, all right, where is it, Lord? And the check never comes in the mail. Then they stop giving, all right? They get bitter. The Lord loves a cheerful giver, all right? Well, what about your time? It's not all about money, all right? What about you, your life, your thoughts? Your works, everything, give it all to Him. When you do, that's when you will receive happiness. And we'll see that not only does she receive all this happiness, she doesn't just get everything, all these desires. Look at the end of verse 13. So she turned and went to her own country, she and her servants. She took her newfound happiness back home to give to the others. That's the display of true happiness. That's the display. When you get saved and you've received that happiness, you know how when someone gets it, when they say, I gotta go give it to this person, or go give it to that, go tell them, have you told so and so, right? That's a true display of you got your salvation. I know we're not looking for fruits and we're not looking for, but if you wanna know for sure, You know you're saved. You'll never know if anyone else is saved, but you can have a good idea whether or not they're trying to get other people saved. That's a great example of it. We see that in Mark chapter 5 with the maniac of Gadara. He's there. Remember him? He was in the tombs, naked, cutting himself and all kinds of stuff. And the Lord casts out those demons, that legion, into all those pigs and they run down and drown themselves in the sea. You know what happens? That guy, he gets right, he gets saved, the Lord straightens up, he's clothed in his right mind, and he wants to keep following Jesus. He tries to jump on that boat and follow Jesus around. He got on the ship, but the Lord wouldn't allow him to do it. That's a strange thing. Why wouldn't the Lord, wouldn't the Lord want a big group of people? Wouldn't he want a big following? He'd get everyone he can. That's not what he's interested in. Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee." Yeah, I know you want to come here, but I need to say, you need to go there. You need to go home and tell your friends, tell your family, tell them what I did for you. And that's exactly what the Queen of Sheba does. She receives that happiness that she so desperately wanted, that she was so desperately searching for, she gets it, and she goes back home and tells everyone about it. You know you've received true happiness when you want to share it with everybody. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh. True happiness is found, number one, in trusting the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. Happiness is serving Him. Happiness is surrendering to Jesus. Happiness is spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. I told you that article in Forbes said that happiness is what people so desperately desire but can't seem to obtain. Why is that? Because people are not willing to do what it takes to attain it. I'm just looking for happiness. You know why people don't have happy marriages? They're not willing to do what it takes to have a happy marriage. You know why people aren't happy in the Lord and happy Christians? They're not willing to do what it takes to be happy. to okay yeah you got saved but you want true happiness it goes how about serving how about surrendering how about spreading true happiness is found in the Lord the hunt for happiness it's right there in first Kings chapter 10 if you want it but most people reject it because they're not willing to do what it takes because it does take work take sacrifice people are willing to do what it takes are you are you happy Amen. Let's pray. Father in heaven, Lord, we thank you, God.
