Dating Assumptions This is Ken
Ham, president of the ministry building a full-size ark near
Cincinnati. Radiometric dating, a process
used to date rocks to supposedly millions of years, relies on
the decay of atoms. Now yesterday we learned that
radiometric dating is based on unprovable assumptions. Well
one assumption is that the decay rate has always been constant
throughout history. But since we weren't there in
the past to measure the decay rate, we can't know that it's
never changed. Those who claim that the decay
rate has remained constant ignore the huge impact of the supernatural
act of creation and the global flood. Both events have radically
shaped geology, and they likely sped up the decay rate. Instead
of trusting in human assumptions, we need to trust in God's Word.
