Turning you by was if you would
please to the book of Luke chapter 1 and while you're turning a
Lion met a tiger as they drank beside the pool said the tiger. Please tell me why you're roaring
like a fool That's not foolishness in a lion with a twinkle in his
eyes. I'm called the king of beasts because I advertise a
Rabbit heard them talking ran home like a streak. He thought
he tried the lines playing but his roar was just a squeak and
A fox came to investigate, had lunch in the woods. The moral
is, when you advertise, be sure you got the goods. That's why
I tell people, I'm just a dumb old Kentucky boy that ain't so
very smart. When I talk, I get mixed up.
My gears are hard to start. It seems I don't have many brains
like other folks I know. And when it comes to society,
my dumbness, there I show. But I found it don't take brains,
my friend, the best in life to gain. It's not your wealth or
what you are or prestige you might obtain. It only takes just
simple faith, eternal life to find. No matter who or where
you stand, there's grace for all mankind. I went down to the
jailhouse once to witness for the Lord. I told them how the
Lord saved me. They sure looked mighty bored.
They nudged each other and they smiled. They thought that I was
dumb. But they stayed in and I walked out when leaving time
had come. So I'm still just a dumb old
Kentucky boy and I hope I'll always be just smart enough to
trust the Lord for all eternity. So I'll just keep traveling on
a few brains and not real smart. I'm just a dumb old Kentucky
boy with Jesus in my heart. Pastor Muncy, I want to thank
you for this opportunity to speak at Landmark Baptist Church and
you've been in church about all week. And I hope today is a little
crown jewel. You're going to have pinto beans.
You can't hardly go wrong with that. And thank you for that
opportunity. I have some special people here
that I would just like to acknowledge. I have two ladies sitting up
with Miss Judy. The one on her right, on my left, was my church
secretary over in Lexington for some time years ago, and that's
Miss Marlene. And the one on my wife's left,
my right, is Miss Priscilla, and she used to do Judy's hair.
for a number of years, and they were faithful ladies at Faith
Baptist Church. And then my cousin, Billy, back
in the back. Billy, if you just hold your
hand up. Billy is, I invited him to come, and he said, well,
I'm pretty 90% sure I'll be there. And he did. So he gets good marks
from me for being here today. Well, it was 82 years ago and
15 days. A kid was born in Winchester,
Kentucky by the name of Donald Wayne Strange. I grew up here
in Winchester. Miss Judy and I, on the way to
church this morning, we went by five different houses that
my family lived in. That was just five. That was
just coming to church the way we came today. I lived in a number
of other places as well. My brother, Larry, some of you
remember Larry. Larry came to church here. Larry
either succumbed, died out in the parking lot here, bringing
his tithes to the church on an off day, or they took him to
the hospital and he died there. Larry. I had the privilege of
winning Larry to the Lord just a little while before he died.
And his word was he was probably bringing his dues over here. When he first told me that, I
said, you're what? He didn't know about tithes. You know,
there are a lot of things you don't know about church until
you get saved and get in church. And he didn't know what that
was. And I said, well, no, that's tithes. And a tithe is a tenth. And that's how churches operate
on the tithe, and love offerings, and grace giving. And it's amazing
how God, you know, there's one verse in Luke 6, 38. It has 40
words in it, 40. The first word is give. the next 39 words explains what
happens when you give. "...give and it shall be given
unto you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running
over, shall men give unto your bosom. For the same measure that
ye meet, it shall be measured to you also." When you give,
you set God into motion. And that's how Landmark Baptist
Church all these years has existed here. It was not here when I
was born 82 years and 15 days ago, but I'm glad it's here now. And it has a testimony for the
Lord using the King James Bible and believing in soul winning
and preaching and trying to make a difference in people's lives.
And thank you all for having a part here and doing that. Now,
you probably have had the opportunity to find the gospel of Luke. It's
just the fourth, third book in the New Testament. And some years
ago, it was back in the sixties, there was a guy by the name of
Al Primo. He was in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. And he was the
head of a TV station, and he was trying to craft some idea,
some slogan that would help his TV station, especially their
news part, have an interest. They were not number one. And
he came up with an idea called Eyewitness News. And that little
craft, Eyewitness News, caused their station to surge forward
and then they overtook the number one station, Eyewitness News. Did you know that the Gospel
of Luke is the Eyewitness Gospel account? Matter of fact, we're
going to read that word when I read to you from this text
in just a few moments. The Gospel of Luke is the largest
book in the New Testament. Now, it's not the largest in
chapters. It only has 24. Acts has 28. So does Matthew.
But as far as some of these chapters, they're pretty long. And it's
a good bit in the New Testament. Luke was a beloved physician.
The guy that was known as the father of medicine, his name
was Hippocrates, Luke used more medical words in his writings
than hypocrisy did in his life. was a beloved physician. He wrote
things that's not in the other gospels. For example, he does
some miracles, there are about 23 miracles and six of his are
not found in Matthew, Mark, or John. There are 20 parables that
he tells about 18 of which are in no other gospel. Two of the
most powerful parables that Jesus ever told, the prodigal son and
the good Samaritan. Those two stories have helped
and challenged more people down through the centuries than probably
any other stories. Some of you might have had your
life transformed by hearing a story, the prodigal son, or the good
neighbor story of the good Samaritan. Luke was a beloved writer of
the gospels. It's interesting how that Matthew
starts out, the book of the generations of Jesus Christ, the Son of David,
the Son of Abraham. Mark says, the beginning of the
gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. John says, when he starts
his gospel, in the beginning was the Word and the Word was
with God and the Word was God. But this one, where I had you
to turn to Luke chapter 1, is the largest prologue of any of
the gospels. Matter of fact, in Luke's gospel,
chapter one, the prologue is the first four verses have to
do with this. For as much as many have taken
in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things
which are most surely believed among us, even as they deliver
them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses. there's that word, "...and ministers
of the word, it seemed good to me also having had perfect understanding
of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order,
most excellent Theophilus, that thou mightest know the certainty
of those things wherein thou hast been instructed." God wants
us to have a no-so salvation. He's not trying to deceive us,
pull the wool over our eyes. He wants us to know. And he said,
these are eyewitnesses. I'm interested in that word eyewitness,
and I was interested in it some time ago. When I was in college,
I had to take Greek because of my major, but it didn't affect
me a whole lot. But this book has affected me
a whole lot. But the word that is eyewitness
is the word auto-optes. Now, if you put those two words
together, it's a word that you know. Autopsy. You've heard that word? An autopsy. That's what the word eyewitness
is here. An autopsy is something where
you can go and see for yourself. Opto is optical, to see. Otto
is self, to see for yourself. He is saying, I am writing this
as an eyewitness account, as ministers of the Word. I want
you to know the certainty of those things. Now, of late, the
Lord Jesus Christ has fallen on to some tough times as far
as the media is concerned. There are a group of people,
well, probably every year around Christmastime or Easter, somebody
comes on TV or a magazine article and they try to tell you that
Jesus Christ that you think that you believe about is not the
real Jesus Christ. they say that there are some
documents that were older that says that Jesus Christ is not
the historical Jesus, the miracle-working Jesus, the Son of God, our Savior
that we believe He is. Now what happened, one of those
documents was written years ago in the days of the Apostles and
they said this is not of God and they laid it down and Now,
to show you how slick the devil is, he comes along in our day
and someone picks up that document that they said is not true. And
they're saying now that, see, there's some things that we found
that say that Jesus that you believe in is not the real Jesus.
Now, this has been picked up by a group of people called the
Jesus Seminar. There's a hundred supposed scholars. Now, you have to understand,
a scholar is somebody who agrees with you. See, probably no Republican
thinks a Democrat's a scholar. And probably no Democrat thinks
a Republican is a scholar, because they don't agree with one another.
And so these guys got popular. They had four colored beads.
They had a red bead, a pink bead, a white bead, I mean a gray bead,
and a black bead. And they would come to a passage in the Bible
and they said, now, if Jesus probably said that, they put
a red bead in. If they said, well, there's a possibility he
may have said that, they put that pink bead in. If they think,
well, the apostles of the early church, they embellished what
he said, they put that gray bead in. And if they're absolutely
positively positive that he didn't say that, they put the black
bead in. Did you know 82% of what the Bible says about Jesus
they said was not true? Now, I would rather believe somebody
who saw Jesus. As a matter of fact, 1 John starts
off, for as much that which was from the beginning, which we
have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have
looked upon, and our hands have handled of the word of life.
Now, would you rather take the word of somebody who actually
heard Him, saw Him, and then looked upon Him and handled Him,
or these guys 2,000 years later, probably never saw anything at
all anyway. You know, John said, we've seen
Him. Now Luke said, when Jesus was raised from the dead, He
came and He stood in their midst and He said, I want you to handle
me. A spirit doesn't have flesh and bones. Handle me and see
he even said to Thomas you can put your hand into my side you
put your finger into my hand He didn't need to do that. He
just said my lord in my God Jesus is the real Son of God now how
these guys got away with this is because right now in America
in Winchester, Kentucky, in Fort Myers, Florida. Thank you for
praying for us in Florida because of the two hurricanes that came
through our state. The climate is right for that kind of thinking.
We are in the restaurant mentality of churches today because we're
in the entertainment mode. You'd be amazed at how many people
go to church today not to worship God in spirit and in truth and
in the beauty of holiness, but they go to worship or they go
to be entertained. It's in the entertainment, but
we have restaurant religion. You deserve a break today. That's
McDonald's religion. You deserve a break today. Some
people like Burger King religion. Have it your way. You can go,
you can have a traditional service, or you could have a contemporary
service, or you could have a blended service. Well, what about, what
if you want to go to a hard preaching service? or a soft preaching
service. Is it possible we could ever
get to where you could go to a Jesus service, a Buddha service, a
Confucius service? You said, surely not, but don't
count on it. People are so deceived today.
Now, if you're talking about restaurants, I like the slogan
from Wendy's best, old-fashioned, hot and juicy. When you go to a service, you
want it to be old-fashioned, Bible-based, hot, juicy. And it's something that'll stir
your heart, stir your soul. They're trying to give us a new
Jesus, a new Bible, a new gospel, a new church. They're not trying
to adjust Christianity. They're trying to destroy Christianity. But I want you to know that the
life of Jesus Christ is impossible to believe unless it's true. We are talking about an incarnation
which resulted in a virgin birth, in a sinless life, in a miraculous
life, a crucifixion, a resurrection, an ascension, and a promise,
I'm coming back. How in the world could you or
anybody else invent such a life? Further, why would you want to?
It's unbelievable unless it's true. Now I'm saying it's true
and I'm going to give you an invitation for yourself today,
you, to do an autopsy to see for yourself. Went down to where
they do autopsies. I was gonna watch one, but I'm
glad they didn't let me see one Because I'd have that in my mind.
I don't want that in my mind But they told me what they did
They do a full external exam They do a full internal exam
so that you will know that that person is who that person is
supposed to be they check it out So let's you and I do an
autopsy on Jesus today. Let's see for ourselves. I Does
it make sense to you that if God were to become a man, he
would have an unusual entrance into life? You know, without controversy,
great is the mystery of godliness. God was manifest in the flesh,
justified in the spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the
Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
It makes sense that if God were to become a man, he'd have an
unusual entrance into the world. Can you be any more unusual than
a virgin birth? There was not a woman and a man,
it was just a woman and God. By the way, the guy who said
more about the virgin birth in the New Testament was the doctor. Dr. Luke had a good bit to say
about the virgin birth. He was born of a virgin, and
when he was born, for unto you is born this day in the city
of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And you shall find
the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And
suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly hosts
praising God and saying, Do you know how many angels showed up
when he was born? I don't know the number, but
I know how many. Hebrews 1 6, and when he bringeth the first
begotten into the world, he saith and let all the angels of God
worship him. They all showed up. They'd never
seen anything like this and they will never see anything like
that again. It is when God became man and the angels came and they glorified God. What about the wise men? Not
just three, but a large trek came from probably over 1,500
miles. And when they got to Jerusalem,
they said, where is he that is born King of the Jews? And Herod
said, hey, call the scribes in here. Let's find out where the
Messiah is supposed to be born. And they told him he would be
born in Bethlehem of Judah. Now, you would have thought Bethlehem
of Judah would have had a little sign out front, future birthplace
of the Messiah. But they didn't. You would have
thought as soon as those scribes heard he's to be born in Bethlehem,
Judah, they would have made their little trek from Bethlehem to
Jerusalem is about six miles. Would you walk six miles to see
God? in the flesh? Would you walk
six miles to see God born of a virgin? Would you walk six
miles to see Bible prophecy fulfilled? Would you walk six miles to see
Him who is salvation? Well, they didn't do it, but
the wise men did. And when they found Him, they
opened their treasures and presented Him gold, frankincense, and myrrh,
and they worshiped Him. If you'd have been standing on
the outskirts of Little Bethlehem and would have interviewed those
guys when they're leaving. Excuse me. You came from where? They told him. You came that
distance? Yes. Was it worth the trip? Now, all they saw was a baby,
but it was God. There they saw. Was it worth
the trip? Oh, I'd do it again and again.
It was worth the trip. Yes. He had an unusual entrance
into the world. You would expect that if God
were to become a man, he would have an unusual example of life. He'd be different than everybody
else. Have you ever thought about Jesus and the spirit world? Now, the spirit world, there
are angels, good angels, good spirits, and there are bad spirits. You know, the Bible doesn't use
the word demons. It uses the word devil and devils. And it
uses the word spirits, evil spirits. And Jesus went into a synagogue. And in that synagogue, there
was a man who had an evil spirit. And he said, I know thee who
thou art. You're the Holy One of God. Jesus went into the synagogue
again. And he said, I know who you are.
You're the Son of God. Luke's gospel we were in in chapter
4 he went in and there were evil spirits there that said we know
who you are You're the Christ of God Now the Son of God or
the Holy One the Son of God and the Christ of God, how did they
know that? Where did they learn that you
see if evil spirits are were part of that world on the other
side of Bethlehem. When the devil was kicked out,
he drew a third of them with him." This would be that crowd. They knew who Jesus was on the
other side before he was born in Bethlehem's manger. That's
how they knew who he was. Now, the Jesus Seminar crowd,
they would say, well, they made that story up. They embellished
it by saying that this happened he did that no when that happened
if you'll read that in Luke 1 in Luke 3 or rather Mark 1 in Mark
3 Jesus said don't tell anybody about this If he wanted to embellish
he was to tell everybody about it That's not what he came to
do was cast out evil spirits Don't make it don't make mention
of this don't don't talk about this How about Jesus and the
Selection of the Twelve. Jesus, one day, He chose Peter,
Andrew, James, and John, Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, and Matthew,
Levias, and Thaddeus, and also Simon the Canaanite, and Judas
Iscariot. If you want to deceive somebody,
you do not pick twelve people to live with you for about three
years. When I went to college, I had some roommates. None of
us pushed ourself off as being God because the rest of us would
have been proven to them right quick that they were not God.
Name a religious founder of any group that ever chose 12 people
to go with him all the time so that they could embellish his
story. You do not pick people Because
they'll tell the truth. I'm sure they went up to those
apostles and said, excuse me, but don't you belong to Jesus?
Yes. What's he really like? I mean, when the cameras are
not on, when he's not in the limelight, when he's not preaching
in public, what's he really like? Oh, he's the same. Did they believe
in him? They believed in him so much,
they argued over who was going to be the greatest in his kingdom.
They believed in him so much that, except for Judas Iscariot,
He went out and hanged himself. The rest of them gave their lives
for the cause of His work, of His ministry, who Jesus Christ
was. You don't do that if you know
you're following an imposter. You know you're following a liar
or someone who is just a mere man. Jesus was with these people. They believed Him. They loved
Him. They served Him. They followed
Him. What about Jesus and the Sabbath
day? You could get killed if you did
something on the Sabbath day that was not believed to be kosher
in those days. Matter of fact, the Old Testament
book of Exodus said they violate the Sabbath day, you kill them.
Pretty hard. But they knew what it was. God
gave them warning. And when they disobeyed, they
knew that they were breaking His law. So they tried their best
not to break the Sabbath law. If Jesus Christ were just an
imposter, he would not violate the Sabbath day. Jesus went into the synagogue.
There was a man there whose right hand was withered. Now, they're
watching Jesus to see whether or not he's going to heal this
guy. And he said, is it lawful to do good or to do evil, to
save life or take it on the Sabbath day? And they wouldn't even answer
him. He said, it's okay to do good, it's okay to do life. And
he told that man to stand forth, and he did. He said, stretch
forth, and he stretched forth his hand. And it was just like
the other one. They went berserk. They couldn't help this man,
but Jesus did, and he did it on the Sabbath day. Jesus went into the synagogue
one day, and there was a woman. She was bowed double. She never
saw the sun, daylight, or the stars at night because she's
looking at the ground. And he called her to him. He put his
hands on her and straightened her up. And it was the Sabbath
day, and they went mad. Jesus went down by the pool of
Bethesda on the Sabbath day, and there was a man who had been
sick for years. And Jesus said, will thou be
made whole? He said, there isn't anybody to help me. That wasn't
a question. You want to be made whole? Jesus
healed him. Now they're wanting to kill him
because he did on the Sabbath day. In John chapter 9, there
was a man that was born blind. He never saw. Jesus opened his
eyes. Nobody ever opened anybody's
eyes of somebody who had been born blind. And they said in
that chapter, He cannot be of God because He does these things
on the Sabbath day. The book of Mark, chapter 2,
tells us an interesting thing. This is not a trick question.
Think about this question. Which came first, man or the
Sabbath? What do you think? Well, I'll
tell you. Man came first because he was
created on the fifth day. He was created first in the Sabbath
days when the Sabbath was made. Man was made in the Sabbath. Sabbath was made for man, not
man for the Sabbath. And the Bible says in that passage
in Mark that Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath. He can do what He
wants to do on any day He wants. So how are we doing? Standing
before yourself, does it sort of sound like He might be God?
How about Jesus and the sacred place? Now, Israel is the holy
land. Jerusalem is the holy city. The
temple is the holy place. And even in the holy place, there
was a holy of holies. You did not mess with the temple. You could get killed for that.
Matter of fact, they arrested Paul because they thought he
had taken a Gentile into the temple. Jesus not only messed
with the temple, he cleaned it out twice. He went into the temple when
he was a 12-year-old boy. He's sitting in the midst of
all those doctors, and he's asking questions, and he's answering
questions, and they're amazed. It's like, son, what's your name? Well, on my mother's side, my
name is Jesus, Savior of His people. On my father's side,
my name is Emmanuel, which being interpreted as God with us. Son,
how old are you? Well, on my mother's side, I'm
12 years old. On my father's side, I am from eternity to eternity. I'm the Alpha and the Omega.
Son, what are your plans? Well, on my mother's side, I
plan to die on an old rugged cross. On my father's side, I
plan to raise from the dead on the third day. Son, if we ever
see you again, how will we know you? Well, on my mother's side,
you will know me by the print of the nails in my hands and
my feet. On my father's side, I will be walking in the midst
of the candlestick and they will be saying, worthy is the Lamb
that was slain to receive honor and glory and power. Son, how
did you learn about this? Well, on my mother's side, I
learned because I was brought up in the synagogue and I learned
it at my mother's knee and they taught me the Bible. On my father's
side, all wisdom and knowledge is in me. So Jesus, He's the
Lord of the temple, too. So He goes into the temple twice,
and He cleaned it out. The second time He went into
the temple, He walked in, and He looked around. That's all
He did, just looked. Now, if I were to stand here for about
a minute and just look at you, they'd get a little scary. But
that's what He did. He just looked. And He left. And He came back the next day.
And he started overturning the tables, chasing them out of there.
He said, you have made my father's house a house of prayer, a den
of thieves. He saw religion at best was commercial
and convenient. At worst, he saw religion that
was compassionless and Christless. And he cleaned it out. What would
Jesus do if He came to Landmark Baptist Church? Just looked around. What would He see? What would
He say, that's got to go. If He came to the church that
I had the privilege of pastoring, the one in Lexington, the one
in Fort Myers, what would He see, what would He want to, that
needs to go. What if Jesus came to my heart
and looked around? What would He see and hear that
He would say, that's got to go. You got to get rid of that. That's
got to be out of here. And that's what Jesus did. You
can imagine why they wanted to kill Him. But He came to be the Savior
of the world. You would expect that He would
also have the greatest example of morality the world's ever
known. He's the personification of purity
and virtue and holiness and godliness. He is Jesus, the spotless One,
who did no sin, ever. But He became sin for us when
He took our sin. If you're in some big city in
America, just about today, pick the one you want. And most of
the big cities have sections that you don't go into, especially
at night. How many of you understand what
I'm talking about? They have places you just don't know. Your
life is in your hands if you go down there at nighttime. Suppose
you are in one of those cities, and you made a wrong turn, and
you say to your wife, I hope I don't have a flat tire here.
We're in trouble. And all of a sudden, pow! Oh, no. And your wife says, what's
wrong? I got a flat tire. I'm going to have to change this
tire. Now, sweetheart, when I get out of this car, you lock this
door. You don't open this door until it's me. And so you open
the trunk. You get the apparatus out so
you can change your tire. And all of a sudden, you hear some noise. And you
look up. And here comes six. big, burly men together. Question. Would you be encouraged
at all if you knew they just came from a red hot prayer meeting? Would you go, whew, they're probably
going to help me? Why would you feel that way?
Because Jesus makes a difference. Therefore, if any man be in Christ,
he's a new creature. Old things are passed away. Behold,
all things shall become new." Well, he's here. How does God
leave here? How does He make an exit? Now,
we're talking about an autopsy. We're trying to see for ourselves
if Jesus is really who the Bible says that He is. It starts happening quick. All
the Gospels talk about it. He's arrested. He has a trial. He's condemned. He's betrayed. He is scourged. He is denied. He is sentenced. And he goes out to what they
call the Skull Hill, Golgotha. It looks like a skull. And they take him. Most guys,
they have to fight him. to nail him to a cross, but not
Jesus. He said, no man takes my life from me. I have the power
to lay it down. I have the power to take it up again. He laid it down.
And if you're listening, you could hear him. He's praying. Father, forgive them, for they
know not what they do. Father, forgive them, for they
know not what they do. And then Jesus is hanging between
two thieves. And one of those thieves says,
Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said,
today, verily I say unto thee, today shalt thou be with me in
paradise. Jesus is on a cross, John's there,
his mother's there, and he gives his mother to John. He says,
John, take care of her. And then Jesus cried out, I thirst! And then he said, it is finished! And his last one was, Father,
into thy hands I commend my spirit. And he bowed his head and delivered
up the ghost. Now I left one out on purpose. Saying number
four is the only saying that's mentioned twice. Matthew and
Mark. No other saying is mentioned
twice. And this is what it was. Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthanai,
which being interpreted, he said, my God, my God, why hast thou
forsaken me? Why did God, the father, and
by the way, he usually called him father, but here he says,
my God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Why did the father
forsake the son? You remember Jesus said, if it
be possible, let this cup pass from me. Nevertheless, not my
will, but I will be done. Some men thought that he was
praying that so he wouldn't die in a garden of Gethsemane. No,
while he's leaving garden of Gethsemane, he told Peter, put
up your sword. The cup which my father hath
given me, shall I not drink it? He hadn't drunk it yet. I think when Jesus is hanging
on the cross from 12 to 3, 3 hours, eerie, supernatural darkness, and he cried out, my God, my
God, why hast thou forsaken me? I think at that moment, he's
going to drink the cup. The cup that his father gave
him, he's going to drink it. Now it's in the dark. Jesus dies
with our sins on Him and in Him, and He became sin for us who
knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God
in Him. What was in that cup that was so hideous that God
turned the sun out? Nobody's going to see this. Sin is so horrific. If you and I knew what sin was
like, we'd never do it. We think it's funny. We embrace
it. We like it. We enjoy it. If you
knew what it would do to you and how you'd end up, you wouldn't
do it at all. Jesus, can you picture a huge
cesspool in the heavens? And in this cesspool is toxic,
filthy, unbelievable, ungodly waste, and stench, and smell,
and awful, and rottenness. And all of this big cesspool,
all this, and all of it, it's like a funnel. And it comes compressed
down into a cup. And Jesus is gonna drink it. He became sin for us. If God would have turned the
sun on and people would have seen what Jesus looked like,
it would have scared them half to death. He became sin for us. That's when he cried later, I
thirst, it's finished. Into thy hands I commit my spirit.
He took him down from the tree, they buried Him. And three days
and three nights later, up from the grave, He arose with a mighty
triumph for His foes, He arose a victor in the dark domain.
He lives forever, He is alive. Then He ascends back to the Father
with a promise, I'm coming back, I'll be back. How could you invent
such a life? It doesn't even make sense. And
again, why would you want to invent such a life? And one day
John said, I saw the heavens open. Behold, a horse, a white
horse. And he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True.
And in righteousness he did judge and make war. And on his head
were many crowns. And he had a name that no man
knew but he himself. And he had a vesture that was
dipped in blood." I think when Jesus died and rose
again to fulfill the type in the Old Testament when the when
the high priest would go in and make application of the blood
on the altar. Jesus was our great high priest. He ascended to heaven,
make application of the blood on the tabernacle. The ark was
there. And I think just before Jesus
comes back, it's like he's going to take his garment and just
sort of dip it in blood. And he has it on when he comes
back, just to show us how important the blood is. And it is very
important. Aren't you glad for the blood?
There is a fountain filled with blood drawn from Emmanuel's veins,
and sinners plunge beneath that flood, lose all their guilty
stains. The dying thief rejoiced to see that fountain in his day,
and there may I, though vile as he, wash all my sins away.
It's on the blood. Philippians chapter 2, let this
mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus who being in
the form of God thought it not robbery to be equal with God
but made himself of no reputation and took upon him the form of
a servant was made in the likeness of men and being found in fashion
as a man he became obedient unto death even the death of the cross
wherefore God also hath highly exalted him and given him a name
which is above every name and that the name of Jesus every
knee should bow, things in heaven, things in earth, things under
the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ
is Lord to the glory of God the Father. Well, I tried to give you a little
autopsy on Jesus. You can trust Him. Let's stand
to our feet, heads are bowed, eyes are closed. Lord, may Your
will be done in every heart and life here in Jesus' name. Pastor.
