You saying, abide with me? He said, abide in me. Listen, Terry and E. Rogelstad, this will be their last service with us. Not for good, but they're gonna be helping a friend out, Buffalo Way, some old friends that have a work out there, and I'm sure you've not seen the last of them. So be sure to say goodbye today. Unlike... Many that move on, he said, but I still want to commit to my mission's commitment, you know. So really, if you decide to move on, if you made that mission's commitment for the year, that'd be good to carry on with that. That's a blessing. Let's pray this morning. Father, we thank you for Jesus, Lord. And we just love you. Thank you for a book. Thank you for your miracles. And, Lord, there's a lot of miracles in that book, but I'm not sure there's any miracles like sinners getting saved. And, Lord, maybe there'd be one here today that doesn't know you. Lord, just pray you'd bless your word to our hearts that we might draw nigh unto you, because we need you. You don't need us, but we need you. Bless your word now, in Jesus' name. Amen, all right, John 15. We're gonna be starting, actually, in, uh, where are we starting? Matthew 21. Go to Matthew 21 this morning. but I can't give you the whole message that I gave you last week, so last week we gave you the historical and doctrinal application of John chapter 15 and Jesus Christ being the true vine. He was calling men out of the vineyard, planted in the Old Testament by God the Father, who calls himself a husbandman. We looked at about five or seven verses in the Old Testament where it says, I planted this vineyard, I brought you out, I'm the husbandman, I planted. You're not doing right, you're wrecking the vineyard, it's gonna be burned. By the time Jesus Christ shows up, the vineyard, that is the Jewish religious system, had corrupted itself. It became degenerated. Its husband men who were those leaders were just, Jesus said, bringing forth wild grapes, it says in the Old Testament. So around 33 AD, get a load of this, Jesus warned that that vineyard was about to be burned, and 50 years later, you know what? He looked at that temple, he said, there'll not be one stone left upon another, and there wasn't. When Roman Emperor Titus came in and burned that vineyard to the ground, and you can read about that in any world history book or Wikipedia, whatever your source of history is, as historians attempt to catch up with the Bible and the prophecies of Jesus Christ. So that was the historical and doctrinal application. This morning we want to give you the third application of Scripture, and that's the practical. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable, but how is it going to profit us? And I want to show you a transition that we talked about last week that Jesus is gonna speak of from the doctrinal historical application of this vineyard being his nation, calling men out, to a practical application to us, his people, living in the church age. Now watch this, Matthew chapter 21. Matthew chapter 21. You're gonna see it unfold before your eyes. Verse 33. Hear another parable. There was a certain householder which planted a vineyard. Now, you know who that is, that's God. And hedged it round about and digged a winepress in it. Sound familiar? And built a tower. And led it out to husbandmen. Those are your religious leaders. And went into a far country. All right, so he's... He's up there. And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen that they might receive the fruits of it. And the husbandmen took his servants, those are those religious leaders, and what did they do to the prophets? They beat one, they killed another, and stoned another. Again, he sent other servants more than the first, and they did unto them likewise. But last of all, he sent unto them his son, saying, Thou reverence my son, but when the husbandmen, those Jewish leaders that were sent to take care of his vineyard, saw the son, they said among themselves, this is the heir. Come, let us kill him and let us seize on his inheritance. And they caught him and cast him out of the vineyard and slew him. Question, when the Lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen? They say unto him, he will miserably destroy those wicked men and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons. Jesus saith unto them, did ye never read in the scriptures the stone which the builders rejected, the same has become the head of the corner? This is the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes. Remember, Joe talked this morning about putting Israel on hold and giving an interrupted miracle. Now watch. Therefore say unto you, The kingdom of God, that's the kingdom that doesn't come with observation, it's in you that he offered to them and they didn't want it, shall be taken from you and given to a nation, bringing forth the fruits thereof. And I don't wanna burst your Donald Trump bubble, but that's not America. And whosoever, I'm gonna read it again, therefore say unto you, the kingdom of God shall be taken from you and given to a nation, bringing forth the fruits thereof. And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken. That's the sinner falling on Jesus. But whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder. There's your both advents. And when the chief priests and Pharisees heard, this is crazy, his parables, they perceived that he spake of them. And that's where I have a note in my Bible that says, yeah, think? But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude because they took him for a prophet. So he said, I'm taking this kingdom of God from you, you husbandmen of my vineyard, and I'm gonna let it out to another nation. Who's that nation? 1 Peter 2. 1 Peter 2. 1 Peter 2. We're gonna read some Bible this morning. I hope that's okay. Verse one, wherefore, laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and evil speakings, as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word that you may grow thereby. If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious, to whom coming as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God and precious. Ye also are lively stones, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house and holy priesthood to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. Wherefore, also it is contained in the scripture, behold, I lay in Sion a chief cornerstone, elect, precious, and he that believeth on him, as a New Testament salvation, shall not be confounded. Unto you, therefore, which believe he is precious, But unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner." Sound familiar? And a stone of stumbling, a rock of offense. Pastor Folk, remember when you taught us to memorize that? And a stone of stumbling, and a stone of stumbling. That's how he, you'd have to know him. Even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient, whereunto also they were appointed, watch this, but ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, and holy, say it with me. That's the nation that got the kingdom of God. If you're saved, you are part of a holy nation. Aren't you glad? that your only citizenship isn't rooted in an unholy nation? I won't start on that. So you're part of a holy nation. Concerning John 15, we had two definitions of abide. Abide is where you live. You abide in your abode. or second definition, it's to be steadfast, it's to stay. Remember Abraham said when he was bringing Isaac up, he said, abide ye here while I go with the lad in worship. I like to use practical definitions when we make practical applications of our walk with God concerning abiding. I like to call it plugging in, plugging in. Now go to John 15, John 15. So in John 15, the fruit is hanging, we'll read a little bit there, John 15. Verse 1 I am the vine. I am the true vine see because the other vine was corrupted My father is the husbandman every branch in me that beareth not fruit. He taketh away We'll probably talk about that next week and every branch that beareth fruit He purges it that it may bring forth more fruit now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you abide in me and and I in you, and here's the plug in, as the branch cannot bear fruit of itself except it abide in the vine, no more can ye except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches, he that abideth in me and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit, and for without me ye can do nothing. So two applications of abiding one I'll give you it's salvation abiding when you where you abide spiritually as a saved individual where Jesus Christ comes into you at the moment of salvation and abides in you. Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost. When a sinner receives Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, the third part of the Godhead, comes in and makes his abode in you. He dwelleth with you and shall be Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? Therefore glorify God in your body and your spirit, which are God's, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. He abides in his abode, which is you and I that are saved." And at the same time that transaction took place, part of you and I got a new home. You were placed in Him. Now you have a new abode. We are members of His flesh and of His bones. We are seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. We call it being in Christ. And parenthetically, for Him to kick you out, He'd have to cut part of Himself off. That's why Peter, that's why Paul would say to Timothy, if we believe not, yet he abideth faithful. He cannot deny himself. You couldn't be lost if you wanted to. Now, you certainly can be a vessel unto dishonor. Every home has an American standard. You'll get that after a while. If you are saved, your body is his abode, and his body is your abode, sealed under the redemption. Okay, pastor, then if that's the case, if he abides in us and we abide with him, why did that family just sing that song? because salvation abiding concerns the past work of Christ. What I'm gonna call today living abiding concerns the present work of Christ. The staying, the steadfast, the plugging in, abiding in the vine. Salvation abiding puts you in Christ at salvation. Living abiding produces fruit after salvation. Now look at 15 verse eight. Why? What's the biggie? What's the biggie with all the fruit? Here's why. Herein is my Father glorified that ye bear much fruit. Fruit bearing is how we glorify God. And that's a manifestation, our desire to glorify God of our love for God. Now here's the question before we even start. Do you love him? And do you want to glorify Him with your life? And if not, what are you doing here? Why not just mooch the salvation and... Because the humanistic God of the Laodicean church, and there's a lot of Baptist churches that are at the front of it, has replaced the God of the Bible with a figment of their imagination that thinks all God is concerned about is salvation, abiding, just a one, two, three, pray with me, you're saved now, see you in heaven, have a good day. And maybe tithe and attend along the way. Newsflash, that's only part of abiding. That's salvation abiding. He's talking about living abiding when we practically apply this. And if you wanna glorify him, you will have a desire to bear fruit, and fruit only comes through abiding. That's what John 15 is all about. Now, go to Psalm 15, our messages from young men. expounded on this Wednesday night. I'm gonna visit it again, Psalm 15. This is this living abiding we're talking about. Watch, Psalm 15, one, Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? and who shall dwell in thy holy hill. Now, the reason we know this is not the physical tabernacle in the wilderness or at Jerusalem is because he would say, well, just go over there. See, that's what a lot of people do with church. God is kind of at church. I grew up in a religion where, and I wish I knew the Spanish phrase that we would try to reach Spanish people sometime, and they would say this phrase, and, if I go in the church, it will, the building will fall down. I heard a lot of that in Mexico. No, no, no, he's not just here. In fact, in that place, they had a little tabernacle. That's the... I can't remember, they had a word for it, but that's where Jesus is. He's in that little tabernacle. I'm telling you, he's not in that tabernacle. He's in this tabernacle. Now watch. Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? Who shall dwell in thy holy hill? Answer, he that walketh uprightly, this is living abiding, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart, he that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbor, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbor, in whose eyes a vile person is contemned, but he that honoreth them that fear the Lord, he that sweareth to his own hurt and changeth not," now watch, He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. Now here's why we know it's not just going to a physical place. He that doeth these things, remember the first word in verse one was abide, shall, here's the definition, never be moved. Abiding is not, abiding in Christ at salvation is not the end, it's the beginning of the means to produce fruit. So be careful, I don't wanna be a monk and go up on a tree and it's just me and God and my Bible, and now I'm abiding in Christ, there's gonna be fruit. Abiding is not the end, abiding is the means to produce fruit, which glorifies God, say amen. Thank you. Abiding lets God work out what he worked in. It's not our fruit. It's the fruit of the Spirit. It's not the Christian's fruit. It's not the fruit of the Christian. It's the fruit of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, et cetera. And when branches get plugged in, Abide in me and I in you as the branch cannot bear fruit of itself except it abide in the vine. No more can ye except ye abide in me. Fruit of the Spirit. Living, abiding is about the person of Christianity, not the peripherals. It's not about church, it's not about music, it's not about standards, it's not about giving, it's not about modesty, it's not about service. Those are all results of abiding and being plugged in. But if you've got the peripherals without the person, you're gonna grow to hate it. And there's a whole bunch, we call them the haters. I hate that. What was missing may be abiding. You say, okay, pastor, I love him. I want to plug in. Where do I start? It starts with, I hope you don't get bored. If you're bored, you're probably not plugged in. It starts with receiving the word. Now here's good news. If you're saved, the living word already abides in you. The person of Jesus Christ abides in you. But now he wants you to get the words of the living word abiding in you. So fruit bearing must begin with receiving the word of God. John 15, verse seven. If you abide in me, watch it, how am I going to get it, and my words abide in you." Not exposure to them, not a casual glance. I think it was, was it Samuel 1 who said, he says, he didn't let any of his words fall to the ground. How many times am I reading my Bible and all of a sudden, where am I? I'm picking apples, you know. Go back. Start again. Watch verse 7. This was an eye-opener for me. If he abide in me and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done. It doesn't say for you, it says unto you. The context is abiding. I can think of no better song to sing if you wanna abide in him than to pray abide with me. It's a two-way street. Listen, listen to the difference between reading and receiving. The Bereans received the word. They were more noble than those at Thessalonica. They received the word with what? All readiness of mind. Some of you guys that were athletes, or you watching these football games, I think I said something about it. These guys are in that tunnel, and they're just, they're not thinking about Taco Bell. Now, they might be thinking about that after the game, But men, their minds are ready. That's how we are to approach God's word. God help all of us. What's receiving his word, that's being plugged into the word so the word can plug into you. And then and only then can you produce fruit and without fruit, there'll be no glorifying God. Proverbs 2, let's look at this receiving. You've seen this verse a lot. Glorifying starts with fruit bearing. Fruit bearing starts with living, abiding. Living, abiding starts with the words abiding in us. Now watch. If you're a son, you should especially be listening. My son, if thou wilt, He didn't say, read. Receive my words, see that? Now, this is what abiding, if my words abide, and hide my commandments with thee. Okay, that's memorization. No, that's meditation. Now, you're probably not gonna memorize without meditating, but don't ever memorize without meditating. If all you remember in that verse is, and a stone is stumbling, every time I think of it, I think of my daughter, Anna. Well, I didn't meditate on the verse, see? so that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, apply thine heart to understanding. We know where all that comes from, it comes from what you're reading. Where if thou cryest after knowledge and lifted up thy voice for understanding, we're not talking about the Pythagorean theorem here, we're talking about God's word. If thou seekest her as silver, and so this, what is this preacher? This is receiving, this is abiding. for her is hid treasures. Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord giveth wisdom out of his mouth, cometh knowledge and understanding. See what's happening now? You abide in him, and he's abiding in you. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous. He is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. He keepeth the paths of judgment and preserveth the way of his saints. Then shalt, then, then, then, after you receive, shalt thou understand righteousness and judgment and equity and every good path. It's no wonder why we got so much unrighteousness. when wisdom entereth into thine heart and knowledge is here, here's abiding, pleasant unto thy soul, discretion shall what? Preserve thee, this is living, abiding, understanding shall keep thee. There it is. To deliver the, oh, from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward thing. You ever look and see a, what is that person doing with that person? That is an odd couple. That is spiritually oil and water. I don't understand why they're tagging them, and I know you tag friends. That doesn't mean you're fishing bunnies. I understand, but I'm just talking about in general. Why is that person such good friends with them? It just doesn't make any sense. Evil communications corrupt good manners. I wonder if they're just salvation-abiding and not receiving the words, because if you receive the words, You're gonna choose your friends carefully. Let's read on. Let's go to 9. "'Then shalt thou understand righteousness and judgment, "'equity, yea, every good path, "'when wisdom entereth into thine heart, "'and knowledge is pleasant to thine, "'discretion shall preserve thee, "'understanding shall keep thee, "'to deliver thee from the way of evil men, "'from the man that speaketh froward things, "'who,' you notice it says, "'deliver thee?' "'Until you get this, "'you're not gonna be able to break away. because you're too worried about saving face. I kinda wanna be cool, I don't wanna be an outcast. They're telling these filthy, vile jokes. And you know what I say, you wanna curse blank, blank, blank, four-letter word, but the day when they started cursing Jesus, oh-ho-ho! That's what Brother Jay taught me, that's when I step up. I know I've given this before, but I'll give it again. Brother Ackley, these were the days when there was no harbor freight. Those kind of tools, you had to go to a tool sale. And, man, there's all these leather jackets and car hearts and work boots, and they're in this. It was at the Hamlin Exempt over there. I'll never forget it. Tool sale. We're gonna go get some cheap Chinese tools. And this guy was checking out. I'm waiting in line. I bet there's 50 people in there. And he's cursing God's name. Cursing God's name. Now, it was one thing at Kodak when I walked in the control room and there's... 20 heathens in there and he curses NASA. Well, I hear his name more in here than I hear in church Why are you cursing someone's name? That's just a myth. Why don't you cruise curse Buddha? or Joe Smith Or sung young why you curse it because you want to take the high and holy name and bring it down But I'm telling you he said thou wilt not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain Man, I missed a secular workplace So we're in there and this guy he's standing the checker like talking JC GD JC GD JC GD And I hear that still small voice. What you gonna do about it? muscle, man Jesus is the sweetest name I know. And he's just the name, same as his lovely name. This guy over here started whistling the song. That's the reason, lady goes, I know that one. That's the reason why I love him so for Jesus. You say, what are you doing? Just trying to balance the scales for the one that died for me. You know what happened? Abiding delivered me. Because they had me all being an undercover agent for Jesus and all mumsy pooping and, you know, I didn't want to say nothing. I want to meet their perceived physical needs. And I want to meet them where they're at. And I want to do what's it called again? Oh, I want to do lifestyle evangelism. Buying tools. Let me give you lifestyle evangelism. Jesus is the sweetest name I know. That's lifestyle evangelism. I'm way off my notes. 13, who leave the paths of uprightness. What are you talking about? We're talking about abiding. You gotta receive the words to walk in the ways of some of you who'll never get it, who rejoice to do evil, and then you wonder, what's going on in my life? I just don't understand it. Where's God? Whose ways are crooked, to deliver thee from the strange woman? There's more? Yeah, but you're gonna have to receive it. Even from the stranger which flattereth with her words, which forsaketh the guy. Verse 19, that go unto her, return. Glorifying God starts with fruit-bearing. Fruit-bearing starts with living, abiding. Living, abiding starts with the Word, receiving the Word. And the gist we get from Proverbs 2, which will take us to the next point, is the reason that it starts with receiving the word is the first step of abiding, is the word is what makes you clean, and if you're gonna abide and I'm gonna abide, you gotta be clean, why? Because God is clean. I'll preach it, we're in this flesh. I know that, let me put it as Keith Daniel used to say, as holy as a saved sinner can be, That's what we're striving for. Now ye are clean through the word, context abiding. And if you're gonna plug in for living, that will ultimately bring forth fruit that glorifies God, you're gonna have to strive to be as clean as a saved sinner can be, and there's no better sin cleaner than this book right here. Not just reading it, receiving it. Some of you weren't around for Keith Daniel. My kids couldn't take it. The babies really couldn't take it. He goes, this book, he goes, I was in a meeting one time in Africa and a preacher stood up and he staggered everyone. You remember him, don't you? He staggered everyone. He stood up and he said, this book cannot help you. This book can do nothing for you. And all the people, what is he saying? And about that time he said, but this can make you holy. It ain't doing no good on the shelf. And what's scary to me is that there's been seasons when it wasn't on the shelf. That's why I appreciate what Joe said. I appreciate you giving me the opportunity, makes me study. Why was it good for you to be a pastor? It probably kept me out of a lot of trouble. Come on. He gives this testimony. Oh, there was a young woman. She's a godly woman. I won't call her name to embarrass her. But when she was little, her father was an evangelist, and they were driving across the sub-Saharan Africa, and it was dusty and dry. And she said, Daddy, I want to stop. I want to eat. I want to rest. We will. We will. And so we came, and there was a hotel. And oh, Daddy, can we stop? Yes, we'll stop. We come in, and there was a convention, and there was dancing. And there was music. And he said, we can't stop here. The dancing, the drinking, there's music. And the little girl said, oh, please, Daddy. He said, we can't stop. They're children of the devil. And that little girl looked out the window and said, I wish I was a child of the devil. And then he said, now, she grew up to be a godly woman. But I'm telling you, you wanna avoid this world, you better receive this word! That's the cleaner. You gotta be clean if you're gonna bear fruit. When I moved into my house, it was a Christmas tree farm. And it was an apple orchard, a former apple orchard. All the homes on my road, it was all apple orchards behind it. Evidently, the owner segmented off and they sold them, and the fella built the house, and that's where we bought the house. And there was like 80 apple trees when we moved in. Man, a cheap Italian, free fruit, 80 apple trees. But I look, man, you didn't cut open one. Everyone had protein in it, not just carbohydrates, if you know what I mean. So I talked to an apple farmer, and I said, hey, I want to kind of revive this orchard. I said, why? He said, because there's... he goes, you could... if you walkers, don't flip out because they spray apples. I'm just talking about trying to get the worms out. I'm just giving a little testimony here. Go easy, don't... He said, you'd have to spray that thing every 10 days. I said, why? He said, because of all the disease that's in the rest of the orchards that borders your properties all the way around. You'll never get it clean. Listen, if you're going to abide and produce fruit, you gotta get clean. You know what the trouble with us is, sir? We don't wanna get clean. Now, we're gonna look at some fruit verses, then we're gonna go our way. I want you to notice between the link between clean and the fruits of the Spirit. Let's start in Galatians 5, Galatians 5. We having fun? Good, Galatians 5. Watch, remember what our living abiding is, it's standing, it's staying. Look at verse one, Galatians 5.1, stand fast, there it is, therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, past tense, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. You know what they're, Vineyard was these guys, they were going back to the circumcision. Oh, you gotta keep the law, and they were messing it up. So verses two through 14, he goes to, you guys are hanging on to the old vineyard. And he's talking about circumcision. Now pick it up in 15. But if he bite and devour one another, take heed that he be not consumed one of another. So see what we're, the foundation we're laying here, living. This I say then, walk in the spirit and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Now we know about this battle, for the flesh lusts against the spirit and the spirit against the flesh, and these are contrary, the one to the other, so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if you'd be led of the spirit, you're not under the law. Now the works of the flesh, isn't it funny how he starts with that, are manifest, which are these, adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, Variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings. You envy anybody? You know, I used to envy Larry Cooley. That guy could eat seven pieces of pie, and he's like this. Remember him, the way he eat? Yeah, you want another piece? I went on a diet and lost three weeks. Envyings, murderings, drunkenness, revelings of such like, I tell you, of the which I tell you before as I have also told you in time past, don't read into this more than it's saying, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. That's how lost people live. Stop acting lost. And look what his next word is. He's gonna, you gotta get that stuff out if you want to bear fruit, because he says, but the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance, against such there is no law. Fruit comes by abiding, abiding comes by receiving the words, receiving the words is what keeps you clean, and you gotta be clean to plug in. Words that start right here, Ephesians 5, Ephesians 5. Ephesians 5, wow, wow, did I learn something. Again, the contrast fruits of the spirit versus works of the flesh. I gotta get the flesh out so the spirit can have free course. 5.1, be therefore followers of God as dear children. There it is. I'm a child, but am I a follower? And walk in love as Christ also had loved us and given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling savor. But, here we go, fornication, all uncleanness, covetousness, yikes. I just want a car that didn't wear out brand new tires in 10,000 miles. That's all I'm asking. My wife said, isn't there some recourse on these tires? No, the car's broken and we can't, well, the smart guys figured out $6,600 they want to fix to a $3,500 car. Covetousness. Let it not be once named among you as become a saint. Neither filthiness nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient. I'll tell you what it's not convenient to. It's not convenient to bearing fruit, because that's what he's going to get to. But rather than giving him thanks, for this he know that no whoremonger, here he goes again, lost people. No whoremonger, no unclean person, nor covetous man who is an idolater hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words, for because of those things cometh the wrath of God on the children of disobedience. They're lost. Be not therefore partakers with them, for you were sometimes darkness. You were darkness, not in darkness. You were darkness, but now are ye not in light. Light, hallelujah, in the Lord walk as children of light. For the fruit, see how he put the bad stuff, you gotta get it out, of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth. I feel like I'm over-reading, but stay with me. Say amen if I can keep going. It's the Bible, right? If you love the Bible, say amen. Oh, you said it. Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord, verse 10, have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light, for whatsoever doth make Doth make manifest his light wherefore he sayeth awake thou that sleepest and arise from the dead and Christ shall give thee light See then that thou walk circumspectly not as fools, but as wise redeeming the time for the days are evil Wherefore be not unwise but understanding what the will of the Lord is now watch watch watch watch the context of something You've never seen this before unless you're Tim Mills and be not drunk with wine words in excess, but be filled with the spirit Watch, speaking to yourselves in Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing, making melody in your hearts, giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father, and the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. What's the next word say? Wives. Why, we're gonna start talking about family relationships? Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands under the Lord. Husbands, love your wives the way Christ loved his children. What's the context? Being filled with the Spirit. You know what that tells me? We don't have to wait to go to the next public ministry event to be filled with the Spirit. This fruit-bearing can begin right in our homes. And I got thinking, I could think of no better place. You know why some of you girls would giggle if I said, you ought to make your sister's bed in the morning? Because you ain't plugged in. You say, how do you know? You ought to return that shirt that you stained. You say, how do you know that? Because I raised eight daughters. You never seen a bunch of Now that they're all married, now they're buddy, buddy, but boy. What a place to start. Manifesting the fruit of the Spirit. Husbands, wives, you can start in your own home. We don't have to wait to glorify God. Look at how, then he goes to the husbands in 25, 26, that he might sanctify it, sanctify and cleanse it. What? The church. With the washing of water by the what? Word. That he might present it to himself, a glorious church. Glorifying God can begin right in the home. without spot or wrinkle, without blemish, so ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. Why? Because it glorifies God and it brings forth fruit. you can start in your own home. And it starts with a person, not the peripherals. I'll never forget. In our early days, some of our ladies wore a cloth veil in addition to long hair, just wanted to do the best for the Lord. Preachers would come and say, you know, I got a lady in my church. I said, if that's the biggest of your problems, chill out. We were at a home one day fellowshipping, And you know that veil is supposed to be a sign of submission and love for the head of the home. And the one teenage girl ran down the stairs right in front of us, and her tween sister had a head covering on, and she ripped it off her head. And I think took some hair with her and said, that's my head covering! You know what that is? That's peripherals without the person. Can I just encourage you? I don't know how you can especially come to a place like this if you just got the peripherals. It's murder, it's torture, it's bondage. Plug into the person. We can't bear fruit. We can't glorify God until we bear fruit. We can't bear fruit until we abide. And we can't abide till his words abide in us. And that's more than a dutiful read. And as the word cleans and the flesh goes out, then the fruit of the Spirit is manifested. You know what he said? He said, buy their fruits. You shall know them. You probably won't see it in your own self, but other people will say, boy, that person's got something going with God. You want to glorify him? Take inventory of what might have to go, and if you say, I don't think I have anything to go, you get in here and you'd be surprised. Receive it, I'm gonna receive it. I heard a preacher down there where I was just preaching, he gave a testimony, and I don't care who your political pick is, but the President of the United States called you. The President, yes? Now, imagine talking to that President and saying, oh, hey, hey, hang on a minute, hang on just a minute. Okay, okay, okay, now, who said that? Yeah, yeah, yeah, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, wait, wait, wait, don't go away, don't go away, don't go away. Isn't that what we do? We gotta get rid of this for 10 minutes. Try it, 20 minutes, 30 minutes, and you tell me that this thing don't plug into you so you can plug into him. You know why we want strong families? To glorify God. Now, I always encourage you to get up and open that Bible. If you're a night person, I got no problem with that. If you're a night person, then do it at night. But it said, when they received the word which we preached, they received it not as it is of men, but the word of God. And I think it says, which abides in you. Did you get anything today? Would you receive the word, and would you take inventory, and maybe humble yourself and say, you know, I'm a hypocrite. I'm buddy-buddy with all my friends at church, but I treat my little brother like he's a dog. Ought not to be. I want to be filled. I want to plug in. In this last days, I want to plug in. And maybe, just maybe, as our song leader comes and we sing abide with me again, Maybe, just maybe, that our great Savior would say, I gotta find the one that touched me. Let's stand. 440. He will, if you will. How bad you want it, don't sing vain words. Maybe it starts at home, maybe it'll start with your wife. You're gonna be filled with the spirit, love your wife. You're gonna be filled with the spirit, submit to your husband. You're gonna be filled, submit one to another. Oh boy, go ahead.
