More Sermon Details:
Gavin says, ‚Äúthese four sermons have a unifying theme drawn from II Peter 2:1 which refers to ‚Äėfalse teachers ‚Ķ who‚Ķ bring in damnable heresies.‚Äô This is the fourth of today‚Äôs four sermons, the second, third, & fourth ones being a response to the recent death of Billy Graham of the USA in February 2018, although some of the issues raised in the first sermon are of relevance to these later sermons ‚Ķ . This sermon on Billy Graham is considered in connection with, for example, our Lord‚Äôs teaching in St. Matthew 23, & the issue of what Article 26 of the Anglican 39 Articles calls ‚Äėevil Ministers.‚Äô With special reference to Billy Graham‚Äôs ministry we are considering the threefold Biblical doctrine of separation: religious separation, racial separation, & worldly separation; & as a complement to the former two sermons on religious separation & racial separation, this sermon will consider worldly separation. And once again, I ask you to watch out for the place in this sermon that I repeatedly ask the questions, ‚ÄėWhen will they ever learn? When will they learn?‚Äô‚ÄĚ ‚ÄúNow let me say clearly ‚Ķ this sermon is not a comprehensive treatment, or anything like it, of the Biblical teaching of worldly separation. Rather, in this fourth sermon we shall consider just some relevant selected matters in the wider Biblical teaching of worldly separation. In St. Mark 8:36, our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ asks, ‚ÄėFor what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, & lose his own soul?‚Äô And God commands a high level of worldly separation from us, for he saith through his holy Apostle St. Paul in I Thessalonians 5:22, that we are to ‚ÄėAbstain from‚Äô even the ‚Äėappearance of evil‚Äô.‚ÄĚ
