We continue to prepare for the actual judgment of God to begin (chapter 8), as the sixth seal is broken. In chapter 6 we see the Lamb, Jesus Christ, who alone is authorized to open the heavenly scroll, continue the process one seal at a time. The scroll is not actually opened until all seven seals have been broken by Jesus Christ. While He is breaking the seals in heaven, a variety of activities begin to take place simultaneously on earth. The first four seals involve the antichrist coming as a deceiver, a divider, a dictator and a destroyer; the fifth seal takes place in heaven as martyrs are crying out to God's for vengeance on those who slaughtered them. This sixth seal takes place from earth's viewpoint, with great signs of God's power over creation. Then unbelievers will see the sign of the Son of Man appearing, as He comes in the sky (Matthew 24:30). They will seek a way to avoid both God the Father on His throne, as well as God the Son coming in the clouds with power and great glory. God's wrath has not yet been poured out, but is just about to take place upon unbelievers.
