The Nazarene
Series Luke
174
When Jesus returned from the wilderness in the power of the Holy Spirit, he went about with mighty works and penetrating words.Returning to Nazareth, he went into the synagogue and declared himself the Son of God and the Suffering Servant, offering immediate spiritual jubilee blessings in his own name. His own people demanded proof - they wanted blessings before they believed. The Lord pointed to a Sidonian widow and a Syrian leper as examples of the kind of faith that receives a blessing. The people of Nazareth reject God's Son and resent God's grace. We trace all this out by way of a powerful presentation, a stunning declaration, a doubting question, a painful application, and a grievous rejection.
