Kavanaugh, the scribes used the strategy against
Jesus: destroy the person and you destroy their
legacy, their life's work. The purpose of the
scribes spreading these rumors and lies was to turn
the hearts of the people against Jesus. They could
not deny that he had power. But they could attribute
Christ's power to evil. 2. How did Jesus respond to
the scribes? Jesus reveals their deception and
brings it out into the light. Jesus' method of using
parables demonstrates that Satan's house is not
divided, but Jesus is stronger because he is
exercising power over Satan and the demons.
* The scribes were attributing the goodness of the
Word of God to Satan.
* The scribes were attributing Christ's power to
Satan and not to the Holy Spirit.
