The weakness of the self-serving Roman politician, Pontius Pilate, was the human cause for the execution of Jesus of Nazareth. He sought every possible means to release Jesus because he knew Him to be innocent. But Pilate could not escape the thought of the consequences to his own career if the Emperor should disapprove of his course of action. So it was that the Lord Jesus was delivered to the will of the Jewish leaders and was led away to be crucified. This message explores the humiliation of Christ's Person, the heaviness of His burden, and the happy prospect that was set before Him and that enabled Him to endure the shame of the cross.
