Three Demonstrations that Jesus is Lord Sermon 13 in the Luke Series
Luke 5:1-26
I. His Power over Nature 5:1-11
1. Christ in the boat
2. The miracle of the fishes
3. Peter's realization
II. His Power over Physical Disease 5:12-16
Here is an example of Christ and the Ceremonial Law. See Leviticus 14:1-7
III. His Power over Spiritual Disease 5:17-26 or his power to Forgive Sin).
1. The Scribes and Pharisees
2. The situation in the crowded house
3. Jesus has the power to forgive sins – v. 24
4. There is every reason to believe this man was saved
a) What Jesus did here was show the crowd that He had come for something far greater than physical healing.
b) What caused the offense was Christ's claim to have forgiven this man's sin. But with the attesting miracle – which couldn't be denied – they should not have denied the truth of what Christ was saying.
c) Most did not understand the significance of what they had witnessed.

The ending of the sermon left me speechless, you have to hear it. It is so true what was said, how could anyone have walked away that day without falling down before the Savior's feet worshipping Him? How very hard is the heart of man, it is indeed desperately wicked. God's mercy and power, through Jesus Christ, is magnified through His grace to the wicked, dead men who walk the earth. How fearfully great is our God. Jesus saved that one man that day and others walked away and died in their sins and are still even now in torment. Really great sermon.
