God's Word teaches us that Christ has infinite power over all the creation, and upholds what He created.
This is the complete control He exercises over all things. This is Who our Good Shepherd really is.
No wonder Christ made such astounding promises to lose none of His people, and to bring all His sheep to eternal life so that we never perish.
Christ has more than ample power to accomplish His Father's will!
But we notice that Jesus didn't speak about this blinding power He possesses during His ministry.
It was left to the Holy Ghost to reveal these truths fully to us through the apostles after Christ's ascension.
How wrong it was that Jesus had to endure the indignity and back-talk and sneering and disputation and blasphemy from the creatures He made.
He could have displayed a trivial amount of His infinite power to set such wicked men aright, but He declined to do so.
What He did was work such miracles as should have been sufficient to reveal His power, and yet most men refused to credit them.
Christ's infinite power is always veiled before His creatures. Perhaps this is part of what it means to say that no man can see God at any time, but the Son of God has declared Him to us.
The writer of Hebrews described how Christ endured such contradiction of sinners, and resisted sin unto blood shedding.
But Jesus endured all that and the cross to boot, because He had the joy set before Him - of saving His people, of exaltation at the Father's right hand.
We are reminded to endure with patience whatever befalls us from wicked men, since Christ endured far worse than we ever will.
The world treats us mean. It treated Jesus meaner still.
