The chapter interprets its symbols in such a way as to leave no other conclusion than that it is a depiction of the rise and ultimate fall of Roman Catholicism. The Protestant Reformers saw its language in that fashion. There is a vast divergence between the message of this system and the tidings of the Gospel of Christ.
