Interesting Please allow me to comment. The liberal does not believe that the authority of the State comes from itself. Most modern liberals and leftists are disciples of Rousseau, who like Locke believed in the Social Contract. Rousseau had a mythic belief in "the people" while Locke was more individualistic, but both opposed the Fascist idea of the State vested in itself (Hobbes). I appreciate Pastor Morecraft's right to an opinion, but he should not misrepresent his opposition.
Also, I do not believe Romans 13 necessarily dealt with righteous authority only, but that is a complex subject with many nuances. Tyrants are not Civil Magistrates in any legitimate sense, as we will both agree.
