Peter describes women as delicate vases as over against old clay pots (1Peter 3:7).
Peter's words are similar to Paul's in Ephesians 5:22, where he describes believers who are filled with the Holy Spirit as those who regularly submit to one another.
Wives are to submit to their own husbands, and husbands are to submit to their own wives: mutual submission. But they submit differently.
Wives are to submit to their husbands' desires, unless such submission would force them to sin against Christ (Ephesians 5:22-24).
But husbands are to submit to their wives' needs, and this calling is modeled on Jesus Christ who made himself nothing for the sake of his bride, the Church (Ephesians 5:25).
