“Dearly Beloved” we are gathered this Lord's Day morning to address wives about marriage. In marriage, God calls us to mutual submission to Jesus out of reverence and awe for Him as our Lord and Savior (Eph. 5:21), yet both husband and wife have important roles. Christ covenants, vows, unites and shows true love to His Bride the Church so that wives would understand their role of willing and loving submission to their husbands in the marriage. All wives are called by Jesus to use their gifts, strengths, talents and wisdom in submission to their husband, being instruments or means of their husband's further sanctification in reliance upon the grace of God. Wives are to submit to their husbands “as to the Lord Jesus”, which includes devotion, dedication and desire.
