12/26/2021 Scripture: Luke 2:1-20 Text: same Sermon: Heaven Proclaims the Savior's Birth Points: I. The Relative Silence II. The Announcement to Humble Shepherds III. The Glorious Refrain for All Time
POST BIRTH REVELATION ABOUT THE CHRIST 9And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 10 Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 "For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 "And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger." 13 ¶ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: 14 "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!"
We continue our story of the Pre and Post Conception Revelations about the Christ. This morning we'll consider the words of the angels announcing the birth and glory of the Christ who had just been born. Such glory and praise is preeminently worthy of the Christ who was just beginning the work of our redemption. Of course all these were written down for our benefit… "on whom the ages have come" so that we would remember and worship Him as He deserves. Why? In short that we would really believe and trust in Him. Think of John 20:30-31.
