John 21:17 – "He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me?..." This question of our Lord followed Peter's three-time denial of Christ before His crucifixion, and combined with the following warning of future martyrdom and command to Peter to feed His sheep made it clear that (1) the Lord Jesus EXPECTS His disciples to LOVE Him, and (2) that our love for Christ must result in obedience and total surrender of our lives to Him. This message shows from the scriptures that: 1. A person who is truly born again WILL LOVE JESUS - that there is no such thing as a Christian who does not LOVE the Lord Jesus. 2. We are to love the Lord above everything else in this life. 3. If you love the Lord it will be plainly evident in the way you live your life; you will have a desire to obey Him and thus, to serve Him. There will be evidence to those around you that you love the Lord.
