We are called God's friend only because of His sovereign grace whereby He chooses to make us His friends. Jesus Christ chooses his friends for a very specific purpose – to bear fruit and so glorify God. One of the privileges of this friendship is our union with Christ – who is our friend, as well as ‘the vine' in whom we abide. As branches have as their main function, the bearing of fruit which is for the pleasure of the husbandman, we are chosen and appointed to bear fruit for God.

Great Sermon! Excellent understanding of God's grace toward us. Knowing that we were chosen, and that we did not choose Him gives us a greater appreciation and love for the Lord in our service and worship to Him.
This is a message to stir us to bear much good fruit. It is all God's doing! Glory to God!

Pastor LoSardo directly confronts these passages in a way that is clear and meaningful for me.
