How can Solomon refer to gaining wisdom as a "grievous task" and say that increasing wisdom only increases pain? When other passages implore us to seek wisdom for our benefit? While it may be true that in some ways "ignorance is bliss" it is also true that wisdom which leads you to God, and sees God as the fountainhead of all wisdom is desirable. Gaining knowledge or wisdom, in separation from a relationship with the Lord, will lead to a person being puffed up, led astray, and let down.
