There are four primary components of true Bible based worship: [1] Scripture reading, [2] Prayer, [3] Praise and [4] Preaching.
We have sought to work our way through each one, seeking to understand what the Word of God has to say on each one of these components. It is vitally important to know what the Word of God has to say and not anything or anyone else. It is the Scriptures that are our only rule of faith and practice.
Today we come to dwell upon the fourth and final component. In doing so we will see that there is a carry over into the New Testament era of the character of the worship in the closing centuries of Old Testament worship.
The worship of the New Testament era is very akin to that of the Jewish synagogue. It was not a radical departure and the bringing in of something entirely new and revolutionary in the NT Church. It was more an adaptation of what existed.
Great emphasis was placed upon the reading and expounding of the Scriptures in the Jewish synagogues and that is true also in New Testament worship.
