In this continuing series from the book of Hebrews, we look at the reality of the Christian Life: it is a never ending fight against sin.
Churches sometimes present one of two extreme positions toward people who are involved in homosexual behavior: harsh rejection of those who struggle with homosexual desires or uncritical acceptance of practices that the Bible clearly condemns. Those who struggle with homosexuality are welcome in our church along with everybody else, because none of us has achieved sinless perfection -- nothing less than complete conformity to Jesus Christ. Because a true Christian is a person who is more sinful than he wants to be, Christianity has been called the religion of the broken heart. Victory in Christ does not mean that the Christian life is always easy, but our ultimate victory is assured because the Author and Finisher of our faith, Jesus Christ, has freed us from all our guilt and condemnation, and he has given us his Holy Spirit, by whom we receive new desires and new power to overcome the things that hold us captive.
