Because death is an enemy that we are powerless against, even though it stares us in the face, many try to ignore. But the grim reality of death isn't going anywhere. The ultimate question that we all want answered is the one Job asked: If a man dies will he live again? (Job 14:14). Easter answers that question. Jesus said, "Because I live, you also will live" (Jn. 14:19). The raising of Lazarus from the death demonstrates that Jesus was telling the truth when he told Martha: "I am the resurrection and the life." And we should note that while resurrection is a power over death, it's more accurate to say that resurrection is a person, who has the power over death. Thus, the only way to have the hope of eternal life is to put our faith in Jesus Christ.
