"For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honor...That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified. For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness..." (1 Thessalonians 4:3-8)
The idea of committing spiritual (sin of the spirit) or physical (sin of the flesh) adultery with someone is similar to the concept of walking over a clearly marked boundary to take advantage of someone else's belongings. It is like watching someone cross a fence with the intent to go on another individual's property and steal what they coveted when they saw it from the other side of the fence. Why such a vivid picture? Because this is actually what a man does when he looks at another man's wife or daughter. He has no right to look at what rightfully belongs to another man in an ungodly way. God created the woman to be seen in that way only by one person. God has given her father the responsibility to protect her for her future husband. It will be the honor and duty of her future husband to provide and protect her in the future. God's design is right! God's Word cuts it straight, may we all line up with it.
