David was God’s chosen king for Israel, a man after God’s own heart, and the one who was promised tremendous blessing and an eternal throne. David was also a rebellious sinner who rejected the Law of God, committed adultery, lied, conspired to commit murder, redefined his actions as less than sin, defended his sin as if it was nothing, and selfishly orchestrated all these events for his own hypocritical benefit. Yahweh had previously made really significant promises to David (2 Samuel 7). So what will God do now that David has failed so miserably?
