Man is by nature a religious being who worships. Because of the fall of mankind into sin, man blindly and ignorantly seeks to worship and serve God on his own terms, even using legitimate religious forms of God's revelation in service to his own selfishness. Only in Christ do we find the hope and meaning of True religion and righteousness that leads to the true worship and gracious service of God. We must be careful that our religion is found in Christ alone apart from any works of our own. While religion can offer counterfeit comfort to man and make them feel “righteous” it also makes them very self-absorbed, angry and highly critical of others, and ultimately any religion that has not Christ as its focus, goal and end will damn the dear soul no matter how sincere. Only God in Christ can truly remove our sins and transgressions and make us righteous through imputation with rejoicing, true worship and glory to God following as responses of true and saving faith.
