Last weekend the news in the United Kingdom was dominated by a 13 year old boy who had become a father. Alfie Patten's girlfriend Chantelle Steadman who is 15 years old gave birth to a little girl she named Maisie. The press was full of moral outrage but some of the commentators pointed out how the newspapers never stated the moral standard by which they judged such a thing wrong. The whole story is an illustration of the dropping moral standards in Britain but the outrage is also an illustration of the Biblical doctrine in Romans 2:14-15 that God's law is written on the heart.
STOP PRESS 19th May 2009 it has been announced that DNA tests have proved that the 13 year old was not the father of the child. Instead it was another boy who would have been 14. (The points made in the sermon however are still valid)
