In this parable we find the great mystery of the sovereignty of God and the responsibility of man. The falling of the seed with certainty is the work of God in His sovereignty, and the placing of the seed is by divine appointment. Yet the best of seed is fruitless if the soil is not right. Man cannot blame the Seed or the Sower. A man will perish on his own account--he cannot blame God. To both sinner and saint: Be careful how you hear! Many today want just religion and carnal security at their time of death. God condescends to explain to us His great mysteries in human terms. We are often the greatest hindrance to understanding the scriptures.
