Only Jesus Christ can give spiritual life and eternal life. And that is what we will remember this morning as we come to the Lord's table. As we come to the table each one of us ought to be able to exclaim, "Oh how I love Your law, O Lord!" All of your Word is a Word of life to me today because of Jesus Christ my Lord. Perhaps it was David who wrote the words of this Psalm. But it was the Lord Jesus who personified them perfectly. David loved God's law because of the grace of Christ promised for him and purchased for him. He accomplished this, on our behalf, by 3 disciplines of obedience in His life in relation to God's holy law. These disciplines of obedience we also should cultivate in order to be more pleasing to God in our walk with Christ. The three disciplines of Christ are - 1st - His Meditation. 2nd - His Restraint. And 3rd- His Taste. Let's look into them a little before we partake the Supper.
