Today, I begin a series motivated by the not uncommon question, "Help, I think I've been falsely converted. What do I do now?" I hope to give practical answers to those who find themselves in that situation. However, there is a logical step that needs to be taken first. First, we need to examine the nature of assurance. Many have a confused notion of what true assurance looks and feels like. Before concluding that you aren't saved and starting over with Christ, you need to first clearly understand the nature of true assurance. True assurance co-exists alongside a real sense of fear and trembling for your own soul. True assurance is not a peace that numbs or vaporizes that sense of fear and trembling, and you should not want an assurance that does so.
