In verses 21-23 we saw the danger of being self-deceived, trusting our profession or activities for a measure of assurance. And now in verses 24-27 we see the true spiritual danger of desiring God's blessing, but not desiring God. Our attitude toward His Word and in response to suffering helps us examine the level of our self-deception.
