While Christ and the apostles are our primary examples, all we know of them is recorded in Scripture. We also need contemporary, Christlike examples to follow. When we find them, we are to observe their manner of life. Then, we are to become examples for others. On the other hand, there are many religious leaders and individuals who should not be followed as examples. The apostle Paul gives some characteristics of such individuals that we should be on guard concerning.
