Christ himself makes the connection between fish-catching and man-fishing. Here we dig a little deeper into this analogy, using Christ's call of Peter to remind us about the call to testify of Christ.
First, there is a command plainly issued, to Peter about catching fish and to us about catching men.
Then, there is obedience grrudgingly offered, first by Peter about catching fish and then by us about fishing for souls.
Next, there is a catch marvellously made. All efforts without Christ will prove worthless, but Christ's blessing makes one effort abundantly profitable.
Again, there is a man truly humbled, broken by blessings.
Finally, there is a commission simply expressed, in which we share: will we go, even with a 'nevertheless', to make Christ known?
