If you are a bit downcast as you compare your present state to what it once was. I have a message for you. This psalm is about restoration desired and attained. It follows the following flow of thought: 1. Former favor Remembered: "thou hast been favorable unto thy land". There is quite a striking emphasis on the "land' in this psalm (vs.1, vs.9, vs. 12). Indeed, a clear lesson in this psalm is "with restoration of right relations with God--creation returns to its proper fertility." 2. present distress described: vs. 4-7. One of their present distresses was crop failure in the land--and many of the distresses noted in Haggai 1:2-13 as well. 3. Wise waiting practiced: vs. 8 4. Glorious harmony desired and obtained: vs. 9-13.
