All Christianity stands or falls with the doctrine of the Virgin Birth. To confess that Jesus had a human father, then the Bible is not true. But how is it possible for a woman to conceive a child without a human father involved? That questions was on the mind of Mary. How can this be? Many have offered their own answers to Mary's question. For some, the only answer is that Mary was not a virgin, but a sexually active teenager who got pregnant either by Joseph or another. But such a view denies the Scriptural record that presents her as a chaste woman and denies the uniqueness of Jesus Christ as God in the flesh, the God-Man. Some have suggested that the answer to Mary's question is that Jesus Christ is a freak of nature, a product of parthenogenesis. Lower forms of life have reproduced without both male and female, so the conception of Jesus Christ is a aberration of nature. But such a view only proves that jesus Christ was human. The only way 'This can bet is for the conception of jesus Christ to be a non-repeatable miracle of God. And all three members of the trinity are involved. The Holy Spirit controls the process; God the Father protects the process and creates the human body of God the Son, Jesus Christ. The Christmas story then is one of a uniquely miraculous conception. God does not answer all of Mary's questions, nor all of ours. It takes faith to believe that God can do the humanly impossible.
