Early in his reign Nebuchadnezzar had a disturbing dream. His urgency to know its interpretation put Daniel and his three friends under a death threat. Having approached God in prayer and God then revealing both the dream and its interpretation to Daniel, Daniel gave the credit to God in telling the king. He proclaimed the greatness of his God and described what the king saw and what it meant. God revealed to the king not only the earthly kingdom that would follow his, the Babylonian kingdom, but gave an overview of earthly kingdoms leading up to the ultimate and final kingdom to be ruled over by God's Messiah. The revelation given by God reveals that there will be a final kingdom. That kingdom on the earth will be established by the God of heaven and will never be destroyed or overthrown. That final kingdom is yet future awaiting the final events that will be revealed in coming visions to Daniel and then to the apostle John.
