Paul's prayer in Ephesians 3 points the way to two areas where the Reformers saw a need to restore the alone to the glory of God. God alone receive the glory for the work of salvation. Salvation is of the LORD. The worship of church is to be for the glory of God alone. The great sin of Israel of old and of the Roman Catholic church in the middle ages is idolatry. Worship elements, activities and content was stripped of idolatrous elements and restored to a simpler God centered to God alone the glory. We must guard the biblical reformed faith and resist those elements and actions in our current worship practices lest we too detract from the aloneness of God receiving the glory in and through our meetings for worship. Soli Deo Gloria!
