There are passages in Scripture which seem unfair and rather harsh. One such passage deals with Saul being disqualified as King of Israel. Under Saul’s leadership, Israel was quite successful.
• The Ammonites were conquered, 1 Samuel 11. • The Philistines were defeated, 1 Samuel 13-14. • The Moabites, Edomites, Zobahites, and Amalekites were all put to flight, 1 Samuel 14:47-48.

1 Samuel 15:7-8, “So Saul defeated the Amalekites, from Havilah as you go to Shur, which is east of Egypt. And he captured Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.”
It is at this point, after all of Saul’s success that we read this:
1 Samuel 15:10-11: “Then the word of the Lord came to Samuel, saying, ‘I regret that I have made Saul king...”
