Israel is at the brink of entering into the promised land of Canann. It has taken Israel forty years to make an eleven day journey, all because of their rebellion against the Lord.
Have they learned? Will they dedicate themselves to worshiping and serving God faithfully - even with the promise of blessing for obedience and cursing for disobedience? Sadly the record of Scripture reveals they did not, and 3500 years later they have yet to turn to God with their whole hearts.
Moses reveals he will not cross over with them. He addresses the nation challenging the people to enter in by faith, choosing to follow God through the man God has chosen to replace Moses, the man Joshua. They must 'be strong and courageous' because God will go with them and He is unfailing.
Moses challenges Joshua to be unafraid in the face of the enemies they will confront because the Lord is on their side and He will enable them to conquer their foes.
Joshua can have full confidence in God who will never leave him nor forsake him - and so may we!
Praise the Lord that if we will but trust and obey - He will lead us as well to carry out His plans and purposes for our lives.
