After addressing the issue of brokenness within humanity (chapter 7), Solomon now turns to show how this brokenness works itself out within the authority structures of humanity. He shows how every institution, and every area of authority, is unjust simply because they are made up of broken people. His counsel is that a wise person should recognize this reality, and even come to accept this reality. His ultimate conclusion is that the wise person will not find their joy and contentment in the injustices being made right. Rather, knowing that justice will be fully served by God in the end, they can find their joy and satisfaction in the details and gifts of life.
