SERMON INFO
David's treatment of the poor lame Mephibosheth is a portrait of Christ's treatment of lost sinners whom He will redeem.

Like Mephibosheth, we must be fetched to Christ, for we fear the power and judgment of the King. But Jesus commands us to "Fear Not!" and all is well, for then we discover that His mighty power is not arrayed against us, but on our behalf!

Mephibosheth must have been astonished to hear the good that David would do for him. First off, the lands which his family had lost when his grandfather Saul had lost the kingdom, David restored to him.

His poverty was at once changed to great riches! His dishonor and shame were removed as his heritage was restored by the good king.

So too man's heritage was overthrown at the fall in the garden. Our fellowship with God was destroyed, sorrow and sadness and death destroyed our happy lot.

But our Lord Jesus has taken away the curse of sin from His people. He has redeemed us, and is restoring to us all that sin took away.

But our Savior's goodness to us far exceed's David's, for He has shared His glorious kingdom with the Saints! God the Father has adopted us as sons, and we're made co-heirs with Christ.

Further, like Mephibosheth, we've been brought to eat at the King's table! Eternal provision, both physical and spiritual, are ours. Christ is our eternal life and salvation.

But the honor of being seated at the King's table cannot be measured! Lame and helpless as we are, Christ promises we'll eat with Him for all eternity!

Mephibosheth had to move to Jerusalem to eat at the king's table. But the Saints will dwell with Christ in the palaces of glory. He'll come and take us home!

“ Must Hear Sermon! ”
Another very passionate sermon by Pastor John Pittman Hey in the 'David and Mephibosheth' series. He truly brings out what it means to be seated with Christ in glory for all eternity. For the first time I also saw in a new light that in the parable of the great feast, those who made excuses and went their way when the King invited them were not POOR ENOUGH. Pastor Pittman shows how unless you are really poor you will have no need for Christ. I find this to be so true in all my personal evangelism efforts. May the good Lord bless Pastor Pittman and continue to use him more and more.
