Living by Faith - Lesson 14 - Sons of Abraham - Galatians 3:6-9. We have seen so far in Galatians 3 that it is by the hearing of faith that we receive salvation, the indwelling of the Spirit, and power for sanctification. The Judaizers had argued that to be a Christian, a Gentile first had to become a son of Abraham by circumcision, which led then to law keeping as a requirement for salvation. Paul shows that Abram was justified while he was a Gentile, on the basis of faith alone. Further, it was over 20 years after his justification by faith before he was circumcised, proving that in Christ, circumcision (and hence law keeping) is irrelevant to our being justified.
