Psalm 27 has been a favorite of God's people for its great confession of faith that initiates the Psalm: "Yahweh is my light and salvation." The Psalm was authored by David, King of Israel. Though he had sinned greatly, David had an enviable and profound understanding of Yahweh God. He was a man whose life was often in mortal danger because of his enemies. Yet in such precarious life-circumstances we see in this Psalm that he was committed to several things that we would do well to imitate throughout the trials and joys of our earthly journey: to not be afraid, to gaze upon Yahweh's beauty in congregational worship, and to seek Yahweh's face. With the coming of Jesus Christ into our world, the true light of men and God's salvation have come. Rejoice, O people of God!
