When God created the first man, Adam, He made a covenant of works with him as the representative head of all humanity (Hos. 6:4-7; Rom. 5:12-21; I Cor. 15:21-22). Adam was given an implicit promise that so long as he kept the Lord's covenant he would be blessed with life. Yet if he broke it, God explicitly promised him that he would be cursed with spiritual and physical death. This first of five sermons on the Adamic covenant explores some of the blessings enjoyed in Paradise by the first man and woman before they broke the covenant of their God. The grace of our God in Christ, however, so super-abounds over sin that we fallen creatures who have believed in Christ are the heirs of far greater blessings than Adam could have ever known had he never fallen into sin!
