This is a sermon on revivial--how it came in the past, and how it can come in the future. What can we learn from church history? God put a desire in Nehemiah to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. This is a man who was born in captivity, who had never seen the temple in its glory. Yet he has a desire to see all this restored. And he had assurance that this would come to pass when he said, ...the God of heaven, he will prosper us.... (Nehemiah 2:20). How did Nehemiah know about this former glory? He was told, and read, about it. In the same way today we can read about the marvelous works our God had done in the past, during the Great Awakening and other such times when He sent revival to His people, and to His church. What can we expect when we begin this great work? Nothing less than Nehemiah received: opposition! We need fortitude for the work before us. May our great God grant to us to let this see fulfilled in our lifetime!
