Forgiveness

2 Sermons | Dec 7, 2025

As the doctrine of forgiveness has become a bit confused with therapeutic moralism creeping in from the outside world, and some modern views on forgiveness that lack the nuance that the older theologians made, it seemed good to consider the doctrine in some detail as a help to our Christian walk. As well as to understand how to interact and love those who have sinned against us while not delighting in their sin and even setting in place consequences for their sin while forgiving them.

That said, as we come to worship, may we recognize the great debt we owe to God which has been paid for by Jesus Christ on his Cross. Out of gratitude, may we forgive others from the heart by his grace. May the One that has paid for our debts freely and fully, be worshiped by us for his indescribable gift. Blessed be his name for ever.
